Just two weeks ago I ordered a new laptop from BestBuy --because they ran out of the model I wanted when I tried to get one. I picked up my order on Saturday, tried it out, and took it back on Wednesday because the wifi adapter didn't give me good range. Fortunately, I was able to exchange it with a different model, and this one hasn't given me any problems. Here's some of the specs on this notebook:

Windows 8 x64
15.6" screen (measured diagonally)
AMD Vision A8 - 4500M quad-core processor with AMD Radeon HD 7640G graphics card
4 GB RAM
640 GB hard drive

The screen size and RAM are the same as my previous laptop, and the hard drive is a little bit bigger --not that I really needed it, they didn't have any 500 GB hard drives for this model. The biggest difference, from my perspective, are both the processor and graphics card. I've never had a quad-core or a video card designed for gaming until now. One word of advice I'd offer: Don't get a computer with Intel in it unless you know it was built for gaming --unless you prefer multitasking with Word documents and web browsing.

Oh yeah, I should also mention that Windows 8's "modern user interface" is a pain to navigate without a touchscreen so you may want to avoid Win8 or find some third-party app to get the start button back.

The worst part is the Windows 8 - nothing is going to run right now. You should try Planetside 2. If your computer can run that well, then you will be fine.

Tails the Fox : The only issues I really had, besides the wifi card, was navigating --even when using the desktop-- and not having .NET Framework 3.5 fully operating. Those issues are just about behind me now, navigating just requires a little bit of memorization.

I've been able to run Team Fortress 2, L4D2, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive with few issues aside from the typical lag spikes I get from my Internet connection. I'm hoping my mom will replace the router sometime soon --though it could be a while since she already tried.

AuraBlaze : That is not actually impressive. Valve are amazing at optimising their games. Try something more recent - see how it goes.
And since I am such a nice fox, then I will let you know how to sort your navigation problems.

Tails the Fox : Although I already knew about third-party app for getting the Start menu, I ended up switching from StartIsBack to Classic Shell just moments ago. Thanks.
