someone needs to know that the nintendo ds roms are in the wrong format...when they are loaded they are called rar files...not nds files...same with the n64 roms...the formats for both are not right and therefore ont work with the proper emulator

Inside the .rar archive are the rom files in their approprate format, simply extract the rom from the archive and the emulator will recognise the rom file now.

I hope I understood you correctly Kyo.

i understand what you mean but most emu's wont automatically switch with them...like take te gba for example...all the games for it are in the .gba or .gbc format to begin with without having to convert...but the ds simply refuses to go into it...and i cant manually tamper with the file because thats against the terms of use policy

The nds files are inside the rar file.
Rar files are a container to shrink the size of the files.
You need to get a program like WinRar or 7zip and extract the nds files from the rar files.
Do you understand?

Extract the rar file as well. The game is in there.
Its an archive in an archive. Don't ask me why it was put like that, I don't know.
If you don't have something to extract the rar file get 7zip, its free and works very well on rar files as well as other archives.

no but i can describe it pretty well...when you download a zip folder that has the rom inside for the emulator u wish to use you first have to extract the folder so it is a standard folder with the file inside...then you drag the rom to the emulator and the game SHOULD start playing if the file matches the emulator such as .gba gor a game boy advanced emu. or a .nds for a nintendo ds emu etc. but the nds files i download from get-your-rom are not nds compatible

Theyre compatible for me. So what is the extention on the end of the rom files which you are dragging onto the emulator? and what emulator are you using?

If the extension is .rar, this means it is a winrar archive. You must have either Winrar or 7-zip installed on your system. Right click on the item and select extract, if there is no extraction options then you do not have either of those 2 programs installed on your pc, or the file's extension has been renamed .rar for some reason (not likely but if this is the case, try renaming the extension ".nds").

Does this problem occur on every NDS rom you download from GYR?

yup every single one...should i just go to a different site or just install a new ds...this thing is frustrating as ever...when i go to other sites for roms they work perfectly fine...they just have ads so i have to chose which is more important

You shouldnt be dragging rar files onto your nds emulator anyway, they need to be extracted. Click on the rom once to highlight it, go up to the edit button in the top left of your window and see if the extract options are there, if they arnt, you simply dont have winrar or 7-zip on your system.

Winrar can be obtained here http://www.rarlab.com/

7-Zip can be obtained here http://www.7-zip.org/

In my own opinion Kyo, if the archived roms do not work on this site, they wont work for you through another site. I have not once seen a NDS rom site which offers NDS roms in .nds format for download.

Or you could just download 7zip, right click on the rar file and extract it!
What is so hard to understand about that??
You just don't know what your doing, so read what is being said.

GET 7zip. INSTALL 7zip. EXTRACT THE RAR FILE. INSIDE THE RAR FILE IS THE GAME.

And the site you mentioned has no more download servers.
"Hey guys,
As of now we dont have any download servers,
Been having some problems and the data center has kicked us out!"

Plus that site lags like hell and has alot of pop ups.

everyone knows how annoying .rar files can be when they first start playing roms = and really there isn't a huge need for it on anything that is NDS or lower. 128 mbs isn't a huge amount. Then again different places may have dial-up in which case every kilobyte counts...

Well rar and 7z is the standard for files on the net, find a file to download, it will more then likely be in one of them no matter how small it is.
And another benefit of archives is that you can test them to make sure the file downloaded properly, something you cant do with, for example, with a .nds file.
So yeah, it's more to speed up the download then to decrease file size, but also there are bandwidth limits in some countries like Australia, so it''s better for them too for files to be smaller.

Thread closed because some people just cant understand simple terms like "rar is an archive like zip, you extract it and the nds files are inside it" and just want to complain.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
