So I was thinking about doing another hack for Pokemon Emerald and one of the Kanto games where I replaced most of the shiny sprites and changed them to better looking ones ( a good example of a bad pokemon shiny would be Ursaring ) whoms colours would actually make more sense. I would also change the chance of obtaining a shiny pokemon.

So any tips? ( Not basic types I can hack )
Is it worth doing? cause if no one plays it would be a waste of time really.

iN008 : There is a hacking tool for the GBA and for pokemon games called shinezer. It lets you change the chance of pokemon being shiny.
For shiny color changes, I would use a sprite editor.

( I wouldn't be the only one re-spriteing the shinies.

To be honest, shiny Pokemon have never been an interesting thing to me. It's just a different colour. If you make the hack to improve shiny rates, then shiny Pokemon to those who actually do care will be devalued as they are not as special since they will be getting them a lot. A shiny sprite change will be rather interesting. If you have an example of this that you can put next to the regular one then that will be interesting. Who else do you have with you who will be doing the sprites?

It would be more like a 1 in 300 chance. ( Which is a big improvement )

The actual chance is 1 in 8,192 or something like that. That is incredibly low. You are increasing the chance over tenfold. I actually think that the player is likely to find a shiny at least 3 or 4 times going through from start to end.(Thats just a guess)

Half the time if you go through a play-through you would be unlikely to find a shiny at all.
With this you would be able to find 3 or 4, which would then have a 1 in 396 of being the pokemon you wanted.
Which is a very high percentage. Having the shiny you wanted still be impossible in the standard game.

I am more interested in it than I was earlier. Why don't you slightly change other things in the game? For example put yourself in it in a hidden place? BTW, it's Pokemon Emerald so why not change the chance of Mirage Island?

tails the fox : Not much point in it, its only a berry since you get the pokemon in an egg. Plus I would have to go into some difficult scripting to change it.

Edit : And I could always relocate the berry with less difficulty.

So what do you want to know?.. For shiny Pokémon i think Re colouring would be amazing.
zigzagoon, linoone, scyther, blaziken (just a few) almost have no different in colour.. Just slightly..
it would be awesome if scyther was more red/black or blue/yellow.. Or a totally different colour.

for the rate:
1 out of 300?..
are you serious about that?.. The encounter for shiny Pokémon would be to big..
change it to 2000. 300 is so low that you would have the possibility to catch 10 shinnies in one day...
To make shiny Pokémon interesting for people who don't care..
give them a status bonus and double EV award just like in the older generation games.
this will make it more interesting for people who don't care about colours.
but this way they can also train stronger Pokémon even while they are shiny.

for the game idea:
i think iN008 that this is a amazing idea.
i love shiny Pokémon. So i would definitely play it for sure!
you could lower the chance of a egg catching shiny. Or increasing. And decrease the encountering.
its just for you to experiment with it.

I know 300 is low but times that by the chance of getting the shiny you want is still high.
And to get 10 shinies a day would mean fighting 3000 pokemon... you would complete the game by then...

I can see what I can do stat wise for the shinies.

I would be interested in helping with the development. 300 seems a fine number now.

Also it should be noted the shinies would be preferably edited from Gen 3 sprites due to the fact they where changed in gen 4 +

Scyther is now gold with more metalic Blades and white wings.

I like. I guess you are trying to make it more true to the term 'shiny'? You should try to do a metallic effect for each one.

How did you like the red,yellow blaziken?

I made my sprite on paint and didn't use the colours of other pokemons to recreate its colours. i all made it with own addided colours.

If you like i can give you the colour combinations. and you could recreat them? because i'm not good at recolouring.

tails the fox : i personally like it when the shinies look good for the particular Pokemon, some shinies just have outrageously ugly colors.

but i don't have that paint version nor do i know how to use it o.O..
your typhlosion looks cool to.. you only changed the flames. but it looks alot different! but i think giving the dark blue a purple colour and he's body just a bit darker. would make it even cooler.
but that's just my oinion
