earthwarrior : well only reason they do that is because either their trying to earn lots of Viz by copying others work or they just do that because of Tour  de vizzed is going on. That would be helpful if there was a copy paste checker because the system would not allow that user to submit the review because its taken from another site. I.m just saying that would make a lot less reviews go to trash and users getting banned. I disagree with the 500 word minimum idea because some games aren't lengthy or long enough with an actual story/plot  to review (go over) all the specific fields when making a review, and the review has to be over 500 words just for it to become featured(but because it has over 500 words doesn't mean it will automatically become featured) and in my opinion word count  in a review is  pointless, because some people can make long and lengthy reviews but actually provide no decent information about the game at hand, while as other can make shorter reviews and go into way more detail than some of the longer ones.

Personally I think a 500 word minimum is a little much, if you said 250 I would agree. But some games as others have mentioned, you cant fit a 500 word review in. Every review I write is in the thousands, so 500 words would be nothing really for me,and I make sure to only write a review on games I have played and beaten. But that's just me, but yeah I think for the benefit of people writing reviews on smaller games where you cant fit 500 words of description in is a bit much.

Perhaps it could be dependant on the system and wether it is a hack or not? As far as I know this websites lists games on if they are a hack, so that would be simple to impliment.

tails the fox : I don't think it would be as simple as you think. You would have to go to each game page to find out the minimum word amount. (Or each system) And im not sure if that is possible. Or have mods look through each and every review. I don't think that is possible either because they would have to go through evey single thread. Unless the review goes to a page where staff can either accept it then it will turn into a thread or decline it. 

How about a test. See how it goes with each minimum. Find one that seems to come out with the most worthwhile reviews. It is a little luck based, so it should be done over a largely spread out period.

Sounds good. Are the fail summons a glitch or a mistake? Because they look normal.

That's what the moderators and rgr staff is for, to monitor the reviews that get submitted. I think it's fine the way it is right now.

Davideo7 : Do you not think that it would be nice for the staff to have a slightly easier time? Let them review more good reviews, else you may end up creating another James Rolfe... But of game reviews. Bad joke aside, I see no reason why an increased word minimum would be a bad thing. Though you think it is fine, perhaps we could get the opinions of some of the RGR and mods appropriate for this? David, could you please summon some? Thanks.

Well I think it should be 150 to start with and if it works out fine we should make our way up to 200. 250 may be a bit too high. Some people aren't capable of writing that much without spamming. 

Davideo7 : I'm fine with it the way it is. It doesn't hurt anyone if there is a short review. I found out how to write quality reviews from my past mistakes as a reviewer and I like to think it is because of that that I have gotten much better. Besides, the minimum for a featured review is 500, and those are the ones people will actually see.

Davideo7 : I think it's fine as it is. I never minded sorting through reviews that didn't meet the requirement. The flaming of new reviewers who did so was much more of an issue. And I don't think the minimum word count should be raised, simply because not everyone is trying to get a featured review, many just want to share their opinion of a game. I wouldn't be opposed to a filter in the review page that prevented a review being submitted if it was under 100 words, but I don't think it would be worth your time. And if it would wipe the text that was already entered in the review that was blocked, that would just be bad.

I say leave it as is.

Eirinn : I think currently the site wont let you submit a review less than 100 words. But I agree, some users simply just want to write a short review and sometimes those short reviews can be useful, especially for a game that has no other reviews.

Also something worth mentioning is the the only way to rate a game's Story, Graphics, Depth, etc is to submit a review and if someone wants to rate these things but not have to write a huge review, a 100 or so word review is perfect for them.

There are some games that are really tough to make around 1000-2000+ word reviews of (what I've always been doing so far) and sometimes there are others that can only have 100-500 words written due to the game being absolutely short.

However, I don't really agree with a limit for reviews because sometimes there are normal members who just want to make a short review that's straight to the pint, rather than a completely in depth full review like what I and site staff do.

I actually find it nice to read smaller reviews at times simply because it acts like the attention getter. Then you can look at a full review after to get to the juice if you know what I mean.

Let's not also forget we have children on this site, some that want to learn how to make good reviews for games through vizzed. In our kind and respectful community, I feel this is the best place to start honestly. You have to start small before you become big after all.

Davideo7 : I think that 150-200 is better. I mean, preferably 200 (in my opinion), but I understand that an okay review can be done in less. Some people legitimately just want to make some short reviews not to grab at CP, but just because it is their style. But really, 200 words is still pretty dang short. I mean, this post alone is over 100 words, so it is already more than halfway there . In 6 sentences, I have gotten 100 words. If you really can't think of more than 6 sentences for a game, then you need to play it more.

I agree with rcarter2, 100 words isn't really a lot. I don't think anything less then 200 words is really a 'Review'. I'm not sure how bent my opinion on this is because I have been writing 1,000+ word reviews. but yes, I agree on the 200 word minimum.

Davideo7 : I agree with rcarter2. Making the minimum words 150-200 is best, maybe 250 tops. I have made so many reviews on this site and I do think in my reviews and it usually ends up being between 250-400. I will go with 150-200 for this. 500 words is out of the picture for me.

Yeah, I agree with that as well. It's almost like people are just throwing reviews into the forums without actually putting any effort into their reviews just so they can get the Viz and CP. I will only release a review if I can get it over 500 words already. I don't want to embarrass myself with a crap review. People should put more thought into their reviews.
