I recently authored a thread asking about the Progression of titles, which was recently closed.

Because I am a Newbie, I wanted to find information about how a membership progresses. In the post before closing of the thread it was suggested that a 'Help' section be read, which includes the information I was looking for. It also noted that no one will ever read the 'Help' section, just as no one would ever read the thread - which was closed. However, it does seem someone read the 'unreadable' =-) thread, as the information I was asking for was posted in the thread's first reply.

It is good information to know, however it does not alleviate the difficulty I had - and it seems many, many others have - in navigating the available information on Vizzed (as evidenced by the number of threads which have been created, and subsequently closed, that all ask the same questions over and over).

There is a lot happening on every page of the Vizzed boards and that can make it a tedious effort when trying to locate specific information. Thankfully we are able to open threads in the forum section for assistance with the plethora of 'active text links' on each page.

The other question I find myself asking - 'Why are the member's relatively new threads shut-down/closed so fast, barring any future member participation?' I guess I am doing this all wrong, but I am trying to learn. Why is there a forum to create threads for members to participate in if the threads are closed within 48hrs of their publishing?

I know each website runs their forums differently and I am obviously not used to having threads shut-down so fast. I am used to participating in threads that are allowed to remain open and be used by multiple members, only being closed if their is a blatant violation of the T&C.

I don't mean to offend anyone by asking these questions, like I mentioned above, I am trying to learn how Vizzed operates and I am obviously not used to the site's standard protocol for thread management. I'll keeping trying to learn until I do understand the differences between my past forums experience and Vizzed. This should also help me understand how to navigate the large number of 'active text links' dotting each page.

Basically, if there are already threads about the exact topic you have in your thread, it is closed for being a dupe (duplicate) thread. If the thread has no real discussion value (random topics that either make no sense or irrelevant), they get closed. If the information can be found on the site already (such as your help thread), it gets closed. The site already has a help center, so a help thread doesn't make much sense.

I understand and that does make sense, if it is purely information associated, that is, if the topic for discussion has no other relative value than redundant information.

I think the thread would have been better served had it been authored in a way that wasn't strictly a request for specific information. Instead, it should have addressed the navigation issue, which is relavent for that topic. I'm sure it's no major problem, but it is one that many members have ran into, based on the threads created that ask the same thing over, and over again.

Thanks for the reply!
