Do you keep them live for a few more weeks or let them die in peace?

It would be dependant on what the cause of future death would be. I for one would never end a dieing beings life prematurely. I would do what I could to ease or alleviate the pains.

I would put the animal to sleep, or i would freeze it if I couldn't put it to sleep for whatever reason. (or if it's big I'd cut it's head off, I'd cry like a baby but at least my precious pet died painlessly and it's suffering is over.)

For my family pets, we have all agreed to put them asleep when nothing else can be done. My old cat was 17, and she could barely breathe, and was lying around all day. She wouldn't eat much either, so we decided to put her down.

I think the kindest thing to do would be to have them put to sleep, it wouldn't be fair to the cat and or dog to keep them alive suffering. Sometimes the painful choice for you is the right choice to help another.

My old dog suffered from a lot of issues as she got older, such as arthritis and problems with stomaching food. She was on a lot of tablets & was having pig's pancreas added to her meals. After a year or so of this her condition worsened again - she had a fit or a stroke during the night. Once being taken to the Vet, it was decided that night to put her to sleep.

I personally feel that if an animal IS suffering and is in pain the most humane thing to do is to put them to sleep. As long as it is painless and they are at least surrounded by people that they love, I.E their owners, then it is the right thing to do.

It depends on how it's dying.. If it's simply due to old age.. I'd let it die like a human and wait until it died peacefully after all.. Pets should be treated like humans and you certainly wouldn't put one of your relatives in a permanent sleep if all they had was arthritis.

I guess my point is that.. How do you know that the pet wants to die... plus personally I'd always like to die somewhere familiar to me... not being whisked away in a car and then being put to death in a place I've never been before.

I'd put them down. My own sentiment towards the animal could not compare to the amount of suffering that they are going through, and as a result, I would be force to let them go. I think that is only right, considering they aren't beings with a conscious.

Wow. This is a tough one. I do not really like to "put [animals] down". I mean, I love them, and I know putting them out of their misery would be the nice thing to do, but I think letting them die naturally is the right thing to do.

Well, normally you would just let them die in piece, but sometimes it is just the best to let them go early. When I had to put my cat to sleep, it was for the best because she was really sick .

it would depend. if it was in pain id probably give it the bedt week of its life, spending rudiculous money on it, then have it put down.
if it was struggling but not really in pain id accept the liabilitys and stress of caring for it until it died or developed a serious problem.
pets are for life

for me it would kinda depend. if its dying from a fatal wound, i would end it to stop its pain. if it was dying from like age or sickness, i would take it to a vet to help it as best i can.

unless its a cat, id let that thing die.

If I ever saw a dog or cat suffering, I would stop for a bit, think, then I would put an end to their suffering for good, I hate to see animals suffering, there wouldn't be another choice.
