This game *ahem* is a Mario game with other characters, in this case, characters of a cartoon called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, of course, im not going to explain what the cartoon exactly is or anything like that, besides, you probably already know that said cartoon is very popular, if you don't know why the cartoon is so good and popular, I recommend watching a video that reviews the cartoon AND explains why it's so good, anyway, back on topic, if you enjoy playing Super Mario Bros 2 (the american version of course) and enjoy watching the new version of My Little Pony (you know that Friendship is Magic is a new version of one or two old cartoons right?) you will like this game, it's basically the original Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES) with ''new'' characters, in other words, a hack version of said game.
Story: The story it's basically the exact same story of Super Mario Bros 2, the difference is that Wart is replaced with Nightmare Moon and that Mario, one of the four playable characters, for example, is replaced with Twilight Sparkle, Nightmare Moon plans to take over the world and you must stop her, that's all...
Graphics: With the exception of the new sprites, everything else looks just like the original game, and graphically, it doesn't look amazing, the sprites look good and you can easily tell which character you are using but the rest of the game doesn't look awesome, clearly the NES is a capable of more, at least a little, all the backgrounds look empty and lack objects and, well, let's just say that the only good things are the sprites, everything else doesn't look good or as good.
Sound: The effect sounds are average, with the exception of the explosion sound, the music is catchy and often good, I wouldn't call it the best NES music but it's still good.
Addictiveness: The gameplay is exactly the same from the original game, if you like the gameplay of the original game, you will find this game as fun, I've got nothing else to say...
Depth: There are a lot of levels to go through but all of them are very short, the game can be finished in a few hours, not to mention that most of the bosses go down very quickly, every level simply doesn't last too much...
Difficulty: You can only continue this game three times, the first three or four worlds are easy, but after that, things start to get more serious and difficult, once you finish the first four worlds you will start losing lifes, of course, there are way harder games for the NES and other systems, in fact, I know that these games are unrelated but...I wouldn't say that this game is harder than Mickey Mania (grr...) or Battletoads, but...that doesn't change the fact that this game gives some trouble.
I would definitely play this game again, after all, I enjoy the original game and im also a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I wouldn't recommend playing it if you don't like said cartoon however...anyway, this is off-topic but if you aren't a male fan of the cartoon (AKA a brony) or a female fan (AKA a pegasister) or, well, simply don't like the cartoon, then play the original game instead, said version may offer ''better characters'' after all, again, this is off-topic but some people that enjoy the cartoon don't call themselves bronies or pegasisters, that doesn't has too much too do with this game, let's just say: This game is fun and I would play it again, just don't play it if you don't like the cartoon.
