I always found those video's annoying, the ones where it starts off with a peacfull car ride, you think its a car ad and out of nowhere something like that pops up and screams.

Well, I dislike videos like those too... I prefer watching horror videos where the first scene is a scary part.
For example, in the first part, the ghost or the scary character will have their appearance, digging a grave or killing somebody, etc. Something like that.

Those videos suck and they are not scary. Most "horror" movies in general are not scary. I think Saw and all it's sequels are retarded. A sudden loud noise can make me jump but that happens everywhere because it startles me. Cheap trick, not actually scary. I've been grossed out by "horror films" like Wrong Turn because instead of trying to actually scare you they go for the gore factor. It was so overdone that I was disgusted by it and nearly walked out of the film to demand my money back because of how bad it was. Sadly, the only two movies to ever get to me were Pet Cemetery and Signs. The first because of sympathetic pains in my Achilles Tendon and the second because psychological horror actually works better on me than the usual tactics. Only got me once though, for both of them.

The pictures I posted are actually of me in make-up for my job as a monster during the Queen Mary's annual Shipwreck Terrorfest. I basically got paid to scare people and make them piss themselves. I got people to pee, s***, crawl into the fetal position, run into walls, hit the studs in walls, trip over themselves, offer their dates/friends/children as "human sacrifices' to get me to spare them, and I've been swung at in knee-jerk reactions to being scared. I won MVM (Most Valuable Monster) for my maze in my first year because I dressed as Samara from The Ring (shown above, but in black robe) and I would do this bit where I would cry like a little girl for help in terror, ending in blood curdling scream. It was fun.

LOL garth I know what you mean first time I saw that I was like sob! Felt like a rick roll in horror form lol.

Only real horror movie I think is the best is The Shining, some say it's boring but man that movie is just awesome. While movies now and days use body count and guts as horror Stanley Kubricks The Shining is probably the only horror movie to achieve a scare without any cheap tactics used in most horror movies. Hands down the best horror movie ever made in my opinion.

The shining definately was one of th best. I actually prefer japanese horror movies. Also there are some awesome ghost games like: Project Zero on PS2 (EU release, Fatal Frame in US) or Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on Gamecube(not as scary as Project Zero).

Jig: I agree.... it's very possibly the only scary movie that isn't really a "horror" like we think of it now.

I personally LOVE scary movies.... I love the anticipation and tension of waiting for the monster/bad guy to show up and do whatever it's going to do.... Most of the time that part of the movie is 10 times better than once the monster is actually seen. At that point you're usually just laughing at how badly the makeup is done on the moster or in a death scene or something.... there are very few movies that pull off the CG/effects well enough to keep the movie scary without being silly.

Horror just doesn't seem like what it use to be... well neither is anything else these days lol. Speaking of funny horror have you see Stephen Kings Langoliers? Not really a horror movie much more like sci-fi but yea when the Langoliers and massive CGI appeared out of no where after a 3+ hour build up I was cracking up... Pretty interesting though first time around.

By yea, horror movies these days I hate cause they use actors they think and look like they are perfect, theres no character in them, and the stories are usually all sexual based, predictable and repetitive.

Honestly, even though they are not scary at all, I prefer old time horror films like the classic monster films of the 1930s (Dracula, Frankenstien, etc). It is amazing to watch them now and know that back when they first were showing in theaters they had nurses on hand for people that fainted. Just look at how far we have come.

Another classic I like: Psycho. An awesome movie, as was all of Hitchcock's films, though of all of them I think it is the only one that really falls into horror (I see thriller as different). As always, the book is better, but it is one of the best adaptations that I have ever seen.

Also, House on Haunted Hill... I mean the original with Vincent Price and not that piece of crap "remake" that they churned out a few years back.

I agree that Japanese horror films are a bit better. I mean, have you seen Ringu as opposed to The Ring? Neither are really that scary in my opinion but I think that Ringu was way more entertaining, even though I like the character of Samara (no bias there at all, really).

they're both fakes... but they're still pretty good for people who haven't seen them before.

One of the down points (or at least what i thought made it bad) was close to the ends when there was the souls at the mirrors. The CG just made it look bad.

well, I honestly think that when making a horror movie you should film everything you want and then cut the last 10 minutes (when the explanation for the scary thing is made) and refilm it so that the movie just sort of ends and you would have much better horror movies.

I personally can't stand the way most horros end... it just seems like the premise is fantastic for an hour and 20-30 minutes and then they decide to explain everything completely and/or show you the monster in full and it just isn't scary anymore.

I've found the Saw series to be disgusting, not scary.

Though I actually like a few horror films like the original Halloween, Shining, Psycho, Peeping Tom, and especially The Thing.

Though I really hate how people remake horror films when they can actually make some new innovative horror flicks.

I have written some short horror stories for my creative writing class. I might post them later. My teacher thought they were really good and she is a real writer so they won't suck.

Saw sucks, except for the first two. I am glad they are ending it soon.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
