Yes I believe so because Heartgold is just a remake of it's original called Gold, and gold and crystal are basically the same story and plot wise, just with different Pokémon that appear in both.

I actually think Lyra does not resemble Kris in any way and Lyra in more evident throughout the storyline, whereas, Kris is just another player character.
