Welcome citizens of Vizzed! This is MitsuriZX with a never-ending dose of cuteness as we review Kirby's Adventure! With me, my two friends, Luisa and Lucas!
Luisa : - Hi everyone! Lucas : What's up?
Let's get on with it, shall we? Kirby's Adventure is the main Kirby game for the NES. When i say main, it's because if you're going to buy a Kirby game for the NES, buy this one. It's a colorful side-scroller that even your 5-year baby can play without getting a game over! In all seriousness, this game is easy as eating candy. You control our puffy and delicious hero Kirby in his quest to kill all living things! Wait, he's still a hero? Yep. Seems legit...
Luisa : - By jumping and pressing Up, Kirby will inhale air and become all inflated, being able to float over enemies! Lucas : - When you're in this state, pressing B or landing will make Kirby spit a little gust at enemies. You can use this to destroy blocks if you don't have any kind of power!
Kirby has the special power to inhale enemies and copy their powers. Isn't that cannibalism? Let's hope not... moving on, the proper use of copy abilities will lead you to finding secrets in stages, and they will make boss battles much easier. Just saying, all bosses can be defeated without copy abilities, except the final boss, but then, you're forced to use copy abilities for that battle, so whatever.
Luisa : Taking a hit will make you lose your copy ability, but you can always get it back by inhaling it back when you see it bouncing away. Lucas : - If you inhale two enemies at once, you get the mix ability, which is nothing more than a random ability! You can use this to get abilities that would be impossible to get at the first parts of the game! Mix it!
Each world is composed of multiple stages. After finishing each stage, you get to play a mini-game in which you must press A with good timing to get either extra points or an extra life. Between some stages, you also get the chance to enter a secret room where you can play even more mini-games for even more extra lifes. As long as you have extra lifes, you don't need to fear death! Not that death is scary, it's almost inexistent in this game.
Luisa : - If your copy ability falls in the water, it's gone forever. It's not like you need it for underwater exploration, you can still attack inside water without any kind of copy ability. Lucas : - And when you're in the ground, there is still one more reliable move you can use, which is the slide! Just hold down and press your jump button! I've heard it looks cooler when you have a sword...
The soundtrack is catchy and the graphics are one of the greatest for a NES game. If you have never played a NES game before, this might be your game. Sure, nowadays people only care about graphics, but after you play this game, you'll see what makes a game good. It's not mind-blowing realism, it's not tech-breaking multiplayer, just simple gameplay with fun controls.
Thanks for reading our review, here, have some secrets!
Luisa : - Finishing the main game 100% will unlock the Extra Game, which is harder than usual. The story stays the same however. Lucas : - And finishing the Extra Game 100% will unlock the sound test, so that you can hear all these catchy songs whenever you want to!
