actually, a shorter summer vacation would be better for most students. Knowledge retention is better when breaks between classes are shorter. More short breaks are better than 1 or 2 really long ones.

On a legal standpoint, students are contracted to be in school for a certain amount of days for the year. Sure, you could have a longer summer break. But you would have to take away days from your holiday vacation, Spring Break, other holiday breaks, etc. So it is a no go for me. Heck, I am a teacher, and I wouldn't want a longer break if it means taking away from other breaks or even extending the school day (which it would).

There is far too much to learn, kids have longer to forget if you give them more time, I don't think your parents want to deal with you for longer than 2 months, and besides, why do you need so long? How long does it take to recharge your batteries and have some fun? I understand it would be nice, but it doesn't make much sense.

I've matured enough to realize that education is very important and that you should not complain about going to school because there are people in some countries that do not have the same opportunities. I've also realized that the way to get by in this day of age is a good education. Without one, you won't be going very far.

I also get very bored very quickly.
