http://www.speeddemosarchive.com/

Just figured I would put this out there for people to see if they are interested in speed runs. This site has runs for a bunch of different systems on it and probably 1,000 speed runs on the site in total.

geeogree : yeah  they do charity speed run marathons every 6 months... The one they did in January raised  about $400k if I recall correctly...

I always watch the speed runs when I'm bored and I need something to watch.

sonicmcmuffin : they are a lot of fun to watch. I watched the one for super metroid and I couldn't believe how quickly they got things done and how much they could skip over. I couldn't believe it. I spend at least twice as long as the person who did the speed run on beating the game.

geeogree : Yeah.. The speed that they complete the games is amazing... It kinda makes me envious how fast and consistently they can run games.

I absolutely LOVE speed runs, especially the Super Mario Bros 1 runs. andrewg1990 has the WR of 4:58, and on his channel, I am seeing that he is trying to get 4:57 and to quote from andrewg1990's failed Super Mario Bros run, "No 'New record must be beat by 1'." Seriously, I have done a offical speedrun time attack on the Yoshi NES game to see how fast my times are on the first 5 levels on Mode B, and it's all about luck to get a good time under 11 minutes. I have also done a chafed speedrun on Super Mario Advance - Super Mario Bros 2 on VBA 19.4 without TAS using 3 specific cheats to get a time of 10:08.98. I tried to play back the run after, but it desynced at World 6-3 right at the Birdo fight. Not going to try it ever again. I have no way to record the whole run on stream or whatever in which I don't have the proof of the run, but I actually did start it, from the main menu boot up to the last door after beating the last boss by warping.

I tried speedrunning Super Mario Bros also, but I always fail at 8-2 or around that, especially 8-3 with the hammer brothers. I had experience with speedrunning since I was 9 when I got Sonic Adventure DX only to do time attacks for 2 years and then I quit, especially after many freaking failed runs, about 200-400+. But I have good runs. I also have experienced TASing myself, in which I did a tas test on a Sonic hack that was incomplete which is called, "Sonic and The Secret Extended Edition" found at Sonic Retro. I did Green Hill Zone and tried Star Light Zone but it crashes most of the time in Act 3 when I pass a certain spot in the level because it gives a red screen of death. It scares me to this very day, starting from Zelda 2's Game Over. *instant shudder*

Not trying to advertise stuff, but if you need to see what I mean about TAS, it's all in this:

http://www.tasvideos.org

But on vizzed, it's basicly focusing on speedruns more than TASes, because I have pretty much cancelled a full game warpless TAS of GBC Super Mario Bros DX because I didn't see a point to doing the whole game after I saw that my world 1 and 2 warpless TAS videos were related to one person's WIPs of the game. But not fully doing the game. There's already a warped run, but no warpless run for GBC. Besides, I am working on regularly beating Legend Of Zelda again on the first quest. I already did it about almost 2 years ago, in which it was awesome. Pretty much the longest NES game I ever beat. The longest Wii game I ever beat was Sonic and The Secret Rings because of the don't break the jars mission about 3-5 years ago. But talking about speedruns, I have also tried some mini tests on games I can't beat, like Zelda 1's first dungeon from boot up with another name aside from my main file, all the way to the first triforce. Took 4 minutes because I needed to get all the way there at new game, and I failed to beat the first boss before I died trying to kill the boss. The charity marathons are literally the awesome sauce on a cake. The insane speed, then it goes to many live failed moments, such as the Super Mario Bros 3 game crash in World 7 in a warpless run where it took a hour and a half instead of what could've been less than a hour if it wasn't for the freeze up. You should see the highlights of 2012 and 2013 if there is a 2013 highlights video up on YouTube, because you get to see the top moments of the marathon.

People also end up doing speedruns of games that take 2-6 hours. How do they even go that long? I saw a paper Mario speedrun that wasn't on the marathon that was 4 hours long. You don't even know how long the games are unless you play them.

Cool, these are neat. I can never do speed runs because I can hardly get through the game at all without getting lost, confused, etc. XD Nice find

I've heard of these guys before, it's cool that they sometimes do charity runs.

I personally like speedrunning Sonic the Hedgehog 1 I've beaten it within an hour now.

My best ( according to the Sonic generations port) is around forty five minutes, but I think it forgets if you die and deducts the lost time.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

Wow this is sweet. I love watching these things. Makes you wonder how many times they've played these games.
