For some odd reason on Friday, I was able to play the game called Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 version. Then the problem started yesterday that I was not able to play games or watch any single DVD disc when I try to insert it in the drive. They all were fine and brand new beside Need for Speed Most Wanted but does not work. I have a feeling that it might be the drive's problem but it's can't be. It was working fine and I left it alone after playing the game so, yeah.

I think it is possible that I accident deleted some files that support function for the drive but I can't really determined which files were the one who support function. It would be really nice if you guys would help me. I need to do the video project for the school but I can't do it if the CD/DVD drive won't work. Also, I want to do it without wasting money or take it to repair shop because from what I can see, I did the trouble shooting and the message pop up saying that my disc is not in right format or damaged but most of them are brand new so, no way it can be that problem.

Please and thank you.

How old is your drive?

Have you tried running a CD or DVD while in Safe Mode?

Do you have your Windows installation CD/DVD or the disc that came with your computer? If so, can you boot from that instead of launching Windows normally?

If it's a software/drivers issue, it should still work in Safe Mode and it will definitely work from BIOS. If it never works from anything, your drive either has a problem with its reader or flat-out failed.

If the issue isn't software, it's possible that a simple lens cleaner can fix your problem.

if you have changed the driver you can select roll back driver.
Or you can select update driver.
Or you could go to the manufacturers website, they almost always have the drivers available there.
It opens/closes fine?
Does it show whats in the drive(i.e in the computer panel, does it list whats in the drive, need for speed, or does it just say disk drive?)
And yeh, try safe mode.

Crazy Li :

4 years old at the most.

Yes, doesn't work.

No, I lost that disc long ago.

I haven't gotten chance to buy lens cleaner yet but I'll take a look into that soon.

thenumberone :

I have not changed the driver.

The driver is at the updated version long ago.

It open/close just normal as it should be.

No, it just say no disc in the drive so maybe as Crazy Li has said, maybe that len is dirty or something? I haven't cleaned for long time.

Safe mode got same result nothing in the drive.
