First off, I've always been interested in swords. Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted one. I don't care about guns, but swords are cool. They just seem elegant in some way. So, a couple years ago, I finally bought a sword. It wasn't a very good sword, just a cheap katana I ordered from Amazon. But it's still a sword, and it was pretty damn cool. Now, I've almost got my own armory. I don't use them (but it'd be cool if I could), but it's a nice little collection.

So, what's your interest on swords? Perhaps yours is a fascination like mine? Or maybe you just like the idea of swords. Possibly you just came to see what was in this thread because of the title.

Whatever the case, go ahead and discuss, compare and wax poetic.

One thing I do not wish to see, however, is someone saying how bad or dangerous it is to have swords and things like them. It's very obvious that they're not safe by nature. They're weapons! I think we know what they're capable of. And please, do NOT turn this into a discussion on guns, or anything of that nature. Thank you.

Oh man, I think swords are -completely- awesome!  I had an ex that collected them, and though his collection was small, I always did love it.  I would like to have my own collection some day, but they're so pricey and I have no where to put them.  Where do you keep your swords?  Do you hang them on the wall?  How much have you invested in the collection?  Where else do you buy them, other than amazon?

Singelli : I actually keep them standing in a bin near the head of my bed. I don't have racks or mounts for any of them, but they kind of look good just standing there.

I actually haven't spent too much on them. In total, I think I've spent about $340 on them. The nodachi was the most expensive, at $97.

The other sites I use are BudK and Trueswords. Both of the are very good.

I don't own swords. But I do own army weaponairy. I got a military dagger ! Its really amazing.
and I also got a Arabic saber. I love weapons. But don't have the cash to buy more..

Nope I have no swords the only sword I own I a plastic sword because Im still a kid but evan though Im a kid I know how to handle one and would really want a sword.

I am a fan of swords to, I have a few mainly anime replicas or movie replicas.
Out of all of them I would have to say My favorite ones are Blades weapon and the sword from Kill Bill.
I have to keep them locked up in a glass case on my wall, to keep my little cousins from touching them.

I've seen my share of swords, but I've only got a wooden one my step dad carved for me on my 9th birthday.

haha you and me both!!! my first sword was a cheap katana!!!

I got a couple new ones recently. One of them is a replica of Tensa Zangetsu, and the other is just a black katana. Both are carbon steel, however, which is kind of cool. All my others are stainless steel.

Zangetsu is pretty shoddily made, and feels wobbly when you pick it up. A nice display piece, but not something to swing around. The other one, however, is a solid piece of steel. It's got a nice weight to it, and feels good in the hand. It's just a shame that the hilt is so narrow, because that takes away from it a bit.


BtotheH : I have a machete too, but I didn't list it in here because I don't count it as a sword. That's just my way of thinking though. It's actually pretty nice, a sawback machete with a great handle.

I once had a collection of them but decided to sell them when my sister and her baby moved into my place. I had many replicas. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (Green Destiny). Highlander Broad Sword (Not the katanas. I thought the handles were too funny looking). Blade the vampire hunters Custom Sword Replica. A self made reproduction of Excalibure from the movie "First Knight". 3 Spring Steel European Blades that I could customise the Hilts, Gaurds, Handles, and Pomels for. 3 Chinese Long swords for similar customizations. (If I caught a flick I liked.) 6 Samurai Swords. 2 Ninja Swords. And a Pair of Deer Hook Swords (They should be called "the Brass Knuckles of a Thousand Cuts") They are the most useful for my martial arts Style Practice Drills (The added weight of the tools burned more fat and encouraged a few muscle groups to develop better.)

I sold them to my friends at very cheap prices or gave them away for free.
Silly hobby to have anyway.

I still keep a couple sharp tools in my cars trunk. Mostly for maintenance. Of those tools, 2 are Katanas. (Full tang and practical use even. Got them for $80.00 Bucks each at a knife show locally. They are not flashy but they are capable of cutting Watermelon and making "Fruit Salad" nicely. Other than that I can not fathom a great use for them other than removing Shrubs, Branches, and Garbage too big for me to bother handling tossed onto the Road after a hurricane.

California does not have hurricanes, but it helps to be prepared for extreme weather anyway.

If I were to start collecting again, I think I would expand my tool set by buying an Oxygen and Aceteline Welding Set and Make my own.
(I do not have the space for the traditional way of making such Items. I am not a blacksmith. I need to do other projects too.)

Well when it comes to collecting swords... I think I could be called a collector. Though it's not just swords, and not just collecting. I have medieval and melee weapons of all variations, and actively train with them, on my walls in this very room however I have 28 blades, the majority of which are swords, I would have to say my pride however is my battle-axe. Made not just for use as a axe, but it has a hidden blade in the hilt, great for training. The biggest issue I have however is finding full tang swords that can be used in sparring. All in all, I'd have to say my love for weaponry boarder lines unhealthy. I have everything from blades to bo-staffs to a few spears. And then there's the guns and bows. As I type this I'm looking into a crossbow as well. So yeah, I guess this is a thread for me ha.

As for tools for the job?
There are a ton of places you can go. I think there are a few places you can look up for "Show-Biz Props" if you have a custom make idea or two.
