I want your opinions on the best pre-2004 video game console, this is an unbiased thread so highly biased posts will be ignored, thanks to all who post as this is my first thread!

waterhouse97 : how much is that in American dollars? And besides,  I do not use eBay or craigslis; I do not trust the people on the sited.

Sega Dreamcast, Jet Set Radio, and the Sonic Adventure series.

I really like the classics like Dreamcast and N64, favorite games for those would be Power Stone for Dreamcast and the two Legend Of Zelda games for N64 as well as Donkey Kong 64.

Kwojiba : I personally love the 80s classics like the NES, but for my favourite system I would have to go with the PS2, and my favourite game would have to be Shadow of the Colossus for PS2.

thing1 : Ebay is fine if you stick to people with high ratings. Ive purchased plenty of games on that site with no issues.

As far as the question at hand goes, it's really hard for me to choose a favorite. There are a few greats I could mention. Playstation 1? SNES? Genesis? NES? n64? Gameboy?

All great in their own right with a huge library of games.

Personally I would probably pick the SNES. If a person could only have one console their whole lives, they wouldn't be disappointed with that one. SO many great games for the system, and the thing never breaks down.

This one is a bit tricky for me. My first instinct is to say the SNES, but I also feel like the Playstation could easily deserve the title. In a way, they were similar in the fact that they had a wide range of games in their catalogs. They both had great platformers (Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Super Metroid, Oddworld Abe's Exodus), some of the most remembered RPGs (Chrono Trigger, many of the Final Fantasy games, Symphony of the Night, A Link to the Past). But, in spite of my first instinct, I think I would have to say the Playstation was better because it allowed for things the snes couldn't do, and things nintendo would'nt do. I mean, sure you have to give the sns a bit of a break due to the age difference, but even so the playstation still comes out ahead for another reason, censorship. Nintendo would have never allowed some of the games that were on the psx to be on their systems (back then, they were pretty strict and their censorship is infamous to this day. So yeah, I say the Playstation is the best pre 04 console.

metal572 : I agree, i was born after the SNES came into being but I know that a lot of people view/viewed it as a kiddy console, don't get me wrong I love the SNES but personally the PlayStation 2 takes the trophy in my opinion, who didn't love San Andreas?
