Hey everyone! I'm trying to make a Pokemon Fire Red Hack. I already have an emulator and ROM (which are working well). The thing is, I need Advance Text Editor, but when I went to download it from Whack A Hack, I got a message saying "This file appears to be malicious."

Is there any way that I can safely download Advance Text Editor without getting a virus? :/

A lot of hacking software gets recognized by anti-virus software as Potentially Unwanted Programs. They're not actual viruses, but they get flagged because what they do seems suspicious.

If you're downloading software from its official website, you'll not find a cleaner source for it. So you basically can either use it anyway or give up on the idea. I've never used the tool myself, so I can't weigh in here on if the file is clean or not. But I would recommend finding the website of the actual developer and download it from there. You'll never get a virus-free version from a better source.

Also, moving this to ROM Hacking.

Another thing you can do is to change your download setting on your browser so it doesn't open as soon as it finishes downloading. Then go to your download folder and scan the file before opening it. And if it does contain something, delete it right away. I would do this even if it came from a trusted site.

I have already downloaded the program from there site and I got the same message. I downloaded it and scanned it with Tend Micro and it said it was good.

Well, 90% of them do not have a virus. Same as me, I tried creating a horrible one, and guess what? No Virus! Just use a Anti- Virus system or software such as Mcaffe to check it.
