So I joined this site yesterday after my friend showed me it. It appears to be a dream come true, and I already have a list of games to play. However, I wanted a controller, so I went out and bought a logitech dual action PC controller. It looks like a PS2 controller, only the buttons are numbered.

After fiddling with the properties and determining that the controller is as calibrated as it'll get, I've realized that I have no idea how to get it to react to Vizzed. I tried booting up Spiderman on the 64, and nothing happened. I checked the properties, and my computer was getting accurate signals, it just won't input onto the game, or at least I think it won't. Do I need to download something to get it to work, or click something, or am I just an idiot with controllers?

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you install the RGR Plug-In? Have you tried it with other games?

RGR Plug-in: Installed. It wouldn't let me play Spiderman before I downloaded it.
Tried with other games: Have not, I probably should have done that first. In any case, I suppose I'll try that. The only reason I went straight to the board is the game said "Supports PC controller" so I figured it was my fault in some way.

If that doesn't work, I can't help much more... You might have to wait for someone better...

Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe it's just the game.

Spider-Man for the N64 uses the Mupen64 plugin which should support controllers. Unfortunately, it has no controller configuration, so figuring out what your controls are could be a challenge. You've hit every button and got no response from anything?

EDIT: I just tried the game myself to no avail. I was using a Dualshock3 SIXAXIS controller and it didn't respond to any of the buttons. I also tried making Windows read it as an XBOX 360 controller just to see if that made a difference and it did not.

I'm not sure what the Mupen config actually is for controllers (default buttons and whatnot) but it doesn't seem any of the signals my controller sent to Windows was being acknowledged by the emulator either.

I don't play N64 games on here though, so maybe someone who does can shed more light on the subject.

Thanks for the attempt. I didn't know that I needed something else so maybe I can try it, though if you had no success with it than I don't feel very confident in it.
I mean, I'll try an Xbox wired controller once I get to the store out in the city, but I'm not sure it'll do much good also. If that doesn't work then I might as well just leave the site, as I have no interest in using the horrible controls of arrow keys, and ijkl.
What a headache.

I really don't think an XBox controller is going to work any differently. Have you tried any other N64 games?

I really don't do N64 games at all, so I can't help much. I was hoping someone who did know about them might stumble upon this.

tRIUNE : Is Mupen even the right emulator for controller input?

The RGR Plugin is set up to auto-configure input for Mupen64Plus.

Spider-Man works with my Logitech F310 Dual Action.

The game won't work with the 1964 emulator, but are you able to configure your controller with a different game using the 1964 emulator to see if the Plugin will recognize the controller.
