Postman3 : A tiebreaker is a part of the rules, rules have to be announced before the contest, not during (and nor at the end of it ...), it's not because davideo7 has authority about that that it's fair. Anyway any player out of the first place can tie the 4 others. It would benefit the site if it was announced before, not now, adding a new tiebreaker now is completely random, disadvantaging the ones who play a bit faster. Then, you should disagree as you are able to benefit that late rules change.

satanos :   You are from another planet. It was obvious from the beginning that this would be the new tiebreaker had the top entrants performed equally. The Trainer card screenshot rule said it all. Since there is no other quantifiable performance information on the Trainer card (as DAN said), Davideo7 has chosen the best, simplest and fairest option. You were duly cautioned of the issue earlier this month, yet you continued to zip around in speed mode laughing maniacally shouting,"You'll never catch me, Potter!"

As I said, "fitting". I fail to see how you are more deserving of victory than someone slightly more careful about how they use the tools of the game.

You also fail to see the big picture. You've tried your best to put the game out of reach for people who lack free time to play, yet now in the final week it seems those same people can now oust the "Elite Four" so to speak. More people will post on this thread while jockeying for first place. More posts means more site traffic, more traffic means more pages with an ad at the bottom or wherever, which calls to mind the issue of keeping the site open for business. Take another step back and you realize all web sites and businesses need these basic things to stay afloat. You are a part of the global economy whether you notice it or not.

Of course, why would you stop to think about all these things? You are a young person who wants to win a contest.

Postman3 : I'm 27 like you, and not as childish as you ...

I didn't try anything to put anyone out of reach, I was impatient to catch the 251 as it is an old unaccomplished objective since I play pokemon and had the 151 in the red/blue version, so you don't know me, stop saying stupid things and caricaturing everyone.

And no one is out of reach, just finish completing the pokedex and max out your money, you'll be at the first place with the others, I'm okay to share the viz, I don't need them.

Then, as this point why the new tiebreaker shouldn't be the first to post a full pokedex with max money ? I'd be 4th in that case, but it's as unfair as counting the play time, this competition is not a speedrun. Anyway abusing of save state would be more deserving than searching the tall grass with the speed up space bar ? Nothing is mentioned in the rules, i'd be different then.

And keeping the site afloat includes that we don't demotivate the people who entered the contest following the rules because of an unexpectation otherwise it's better to play the game in solo. You are taking this way too far than fighting for a contest.

And stop being arrogant.

satanos : Your profile says 26 and as someone older and obviously more mature as I tend to treat these posts with a light hearted mirth as opposed to rage, I feel I should steer you in another direction.

I only caricature those who can take it. Clearly you can't. My error.

Secondarily, you won't be splitting your second place prize with anyone provided you keep the position come March the first. Far be it from anyone to record the exact same time. The reality is that the contest is over for you, so maybe you should just hold onto your tights and see if anyone beats your time on March 1. You did work hard. Be proud of yourself. Take a load off.

As for demotivating, it's pretty safe to say there are only about four potentially demotivated people maximum tabled against infinite numbers of potential competitors who are willing to work just as hard as you did.

danielbelitch: eithanator said that he was using a different pokemon game called pokemon crystal and not gold. he was  not using the rgr plugin to take the screenshot .so i highly doubt his submission will count  because he was not using the right game or using the rgr plugin .. and davideo7 not to  be rude but the spacebar to speed up the competetion of time would not really be fair. so by the time for being used for a tiebreaker would not just be fair to anybody who had really done it without using the little spacebar speed up thing

I think this thread should end.  It is evident through davideo7's lack of input that our arguing is not influencing him.  The final decision lies in his hands and that of the staff.

SuperCrash64 : you have it backwards bro... that spacebar raises the timer as it speeds up the entire game... people NOT using the spacebar will have LOWER times...
now... if someone used the space bar to run in a straignt line they are not wasting any time... but if they use it to battle... they cannot be pusing buttons as fast as the game is running so they will likely wast seconds to minutes in just one battle...

try recording yourself in super speed then playing it back at normal speed... you will notice large gaps where you should have pushed buttons... but the game was moving faster than you could keep up with...

(vba records in gametime not real time. so if you record and use the spacebar you are speeding up the recording aswell so it plays back as if you did not use the spacebar)
now holding the spacebar AND reading a conversation is a real waste... if you try to read itll look like you spent 3 minutes reading a simple 2 line textbox... in gametime...

SuperCrash64 : was hoping not to have to post here again, but first off, I already knew he was using crystal, but thanks for the input. I was really curious as to how he caught 252 when only 251 Pokemon exist in the game, that is all. Anyways, it's an old topic in this thread.

Second, the spacebar/speed-up function is a natural part of the emulator and can in no way be considered cheating. If you want to get into it, the entire Hack is a cheat (no offense LocksmithArmy, love the game, just saying). Using properties of the pluggin that allow us to speed up the game is no different than utilizing the properties of the hack to catch all the Pokemon. I would also like to agree with Locksmitharmy's spacebar logic. That is all. Carry on

EDIT: Just had to add that you are right in the sense that it shortens the time needed IN REAL LIFE, but the gameplay does take a dive due to the abuse mentioned by LocksmithArmy

danielbelitch : well anyways his submission would not count due do him not using the right game  and rgr plugin. 2im not exactly sure how he got that one extra pokemon  because their are supposed to be only 251 unless the deveploers of crystal screwed up. 3 he could be using a cheat engine not exactly sure .4 only diffferent thing about this hack is you dont have to trade pokemon other than that its the exact same game
//   anyways etihaners  submission would not count do to him using a different game nonetheless

Grayeftm :
A possible third tie breaker is being decided between Davideo and other staff. First is a decision IF another tie breaker is necessary, and second being what the tie breaker should be. Right now, IF another tie breaker is to be chosen, things seem to be leaning in "game length" 's favor, but that could change.

Davideo7 : Personally I would like to add that I think that Shortest play time would be an assumed 3rd tie breaker in any contest like this. I understand how some might be disappointed but that's the way it goes. I guess in the future this is something that should just be posted to every challenge like this to avoid any complaints like this in the future.

Jordanv78 : That would be fine for any other competition, but there was a special case for this one.  For the first week or two of the competition, the hack was incomplete.  Not all 251 Pokémon were found in the wild, but there was a .txt document saying there was.  Some competitors, including myself, wasted time searching for Pokémon that didn't exist until after an update was applied.  If the updated version of the hack was available from the beginning, I'm sure the times for everyone currently tied for first would be different.  Possibly different enough to change the outcome of the competition.  I do agree with you on your last point, in the future it should be posted on every challenge.

Ok I'll just give in a say that I'll give out a tie for 1st for everyone who maxes out the game. Those users will have to share the Viz prize though, which means that each of them wont be getting much.
