Wowee! I really need to step it up. To finish highly in the next 20 days I need to catch minimum 10 every day to make up for the ones that are harder to catch later.

As it stands...

blade3143 :   Better train fast. Everyone else has already been playing for a week. Your chances of catching up to them dwindle with each passing day.

For you to catch up to me would be nothing. I just use the space bar whenever I am going to run straight for a distance. Some trainers do everything in hyper mode. The leaders of the pack, however, will not stop blitzing until every species is logged and they've maxed out their money.

If you played for a every day for a week in normal mode, your trainer card might look something like mine here.



Multiply that by four and voila! You have the approximate number of Pokémon I have the potential to record in the month of February.

With speed-up space bar, of course.

Sometimes you can walk for 30 real minutes in the tall grass using the speedup without even seeing the Pokémon you want, without the speedup it would be around 4 real hours, and for the same result so, enjoy your ride. It's not being "really into this", it's a capture challenge, there are a LOT of pokemons (sometimes with less than 1% chance of capture, only in one place at one time of the day, that was the will of the hacker of the game) and the speed up is included ... I played a lot Pokémon games with emulators and playing with a speed up is kinda natural to me (a bit slower though, because it's easier to control), and even on Pokémon stadium on n64 there was a gb tower to play at 2x and 3x your gameboy cartridges ...

Postman3 : I am thoroughly enjoying the ride. Why else would any of us be playing? What is your purpose of trying to insult those of us who are merely utilizing the tools placed before us? I have played many Pokemon roms on here and, even though I did start this one out without the speed-up, it becomes quite difficult to play at normal speed with a faster option right in front of you. Running away from a while Pokemon might take an entire minute, but you can encounter ten in the same time. Why wait? Still a great game and loads of fun either way.

This might be my final update, I don't remember for sure if I can get more Moon Stones. But with the omission of other Stones and unreliable Pokemon Locations on the hacker's .txt file, I believe 18 Pokemon might be unobtainable.

blade3143 :   You do just that little champ! Use the space bar to catch up on catching things. Despite what others may have said, (I.E. Taken my words and twisted them) I really do endorse it. It's a valuable tool that has its uses.

satanos :   Isn't it always a capture challenge?  I also did not say "really into this". I said, "Some people are really in this to win it." We undoubtedly fit this description. You don't need to join the two things I said into one conclusion. My former post described how even though I am not using the space bar for absolutely everything, I will still finish in plenty of time since we have the whole month or 2 1/2 weeks left. My latter post simply encouraged a younger player to try to win, but take it easy and enjoy the game.  Thank you also for outlining in detail the benefits of the speed up button.

danielbelitch :   Good to read that you're enjoying yourself. No insult was intended, of course, you are welcome to take offense if you like. Maybe you, like the other guy, read everything I typed over the course of a day all at once and drew one conclusion from both posts. It happens.

I also want to encourage you Daniel. Don't give up on those 17 "unobtainable" Pokémon. [ 251 - 234 = 17 ]

As the leader of the pack, it should be your solemn duty to discover definitively whether all 251 can be achieved in this game. That's probably why this contest is being held. To see if this game is all that it claims to be. We are sanctioned game testers who work for free. Ha ha!

Postman3 : lol Thanks, for the correction, I remember thinking I had 18 left, but forgot to account for finally finding Misdreavus. Sorry for misinterpreting your posts. And thanks for the vote of confidence. lol I think I might be done with the competition for the month (got some tests to study for), but if they're there, I shall find them all eventually. I would like to point out... this is an old version of this ROM... so some of these Pokémon are not in the location described by the current list of moved Pokémon...

also... it appears I did indeed overlook the evolutionary stones issue... I can fix this and make an update but I would not know how to get the updated version put on Vizzed.com... cause that was news when someone told me...

and lastly, I have nearly finished (its being beta tested) a hack of Fire Red called Ultra Violet... its got all the first 2 generation Pokémon in it with all the issues of this hack resolved... 

I would like to know the 17 Pokémon you think are unobtainable... 

like I said, I did indeed overlook the stone limit... but the list you guys used to find those rare ones is wrong (for instance Kabuto and Omanyte are not in Union cave but they ARE in the game)

I have had a few complaints about Gengar... its possible I forgot him in the earlier version... but the update has him in tin tower... 

if whoever puts these games on here would contact me I would be happy to provide an updated version that fixes the stones and locations... and it wont hurt any ones save file

LocksmithArmy : Hi, I added this to the RGR from the patch at RHDN. Apparently the page there was modified a day after I added the game. If the patch version there (2.0) is the updated version I'll re-upload the game. Or I've sent a message to your inbox if you'd want to send me the updated patch.

2.5 is the current version (updated today with moar evolutionary stones)

LocksmithArmy : That's amazingly awesome of you. Also, thanks for the hack, Gold/Silver are my favorites (and I don't have a DS so I've never played HG/SS). Most of the 17 are indeed from the stones. Some others I do believe might be in the game, but since we're apparently using a .txt file that's only good for the update, they are EXTREMELY hard to locate. Anyways, I think 2 of the 17 might be from Moon Stones, which I should be able to get at Mt Moon tomorrow night, right? But here's what's not in my 'Dex:

danielbelitch : I am nearly positive that porygon 2 did not move during the update... for the life of me I cannot remember where scizor was originally either... but in my mind if I took the same steps (not being able to put him in the park) I would put him just outside the park (before the sudowoodo)

kabuto and omanyte are a trip... I picked a random route and stuck em in it lol I think it was 14... but I'm not sure... good luck
see for the first version I had no access to editing caves(or the park)... but the next day I figured it out (and made the first update 2.0)which is also when I updated the list... kabuto/omanyte belong in caves... so I had no logical place to put them without editing caves...


tRIUNE : if you have the .txt you got when you downloaded the original file, it will have a list (similar to the current one) that has the correct locations of those Pokémon


I have finished the 2.5 update that added more stones (in kanto pokemarts)
and hopefully it will be up and running soon for you guys to actually catch em all.. 

Until an update happens or I find one of the lost pokemon, this is the best I got. Missing 8 of the fire/leaf/thunder/water stone evolutions, Omanyte, Omastar, Kabuto, Kabutops, Scizor, Gengar and Porygon2

I do have all 26 unnown though that I can take a video of.

Hey David is there a rule on how you catch the pokemon in the wild and a side note you may have noticed but I'm also competing as well.

I figured out what happened to gengar... (in the outdated version you are playing)

that lv 94 flaffy... 94 is gengars number somehow the lv got put in the spot instead of the poke number... I shall double check the current version (2.5) to make sure this has not happened... (i dont think it did since I started completely over with V2.0)
