There is another way on certain games, they give you the option to mute it and if you can mute the game they tell you how to do so. But you can only do one or the other.

It doesn't work with the plugin but, you need to use like Virtual NES for NES games and for others you just need to try them all and games run faster when they are muted. But for some games the speed difference isn't noticable.

This wasactually was mentioned in an old RGR FAQ Guide thread, which was a stickied thread in this forum, originally posted by BNuge on 04-23-11, which said:

How can I mute the game without muting the entire browser?
There is a solution if you have either Windows Vista or Windows 7. Earlier versions of Windows (including Windows XP) can not mute the game alone.
To mute the game, start by making sure it is opened in a separate window. Right click on the little speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your computer screen, then click "Open Volume Mixer." You should see a small box with a list of all the programs you are running. Your browser should appear at least twice. Mute one of them, then check if your game has sound. If it does, just go back and unmute the first one, then mute the other one.

I moved the thread out of this forum because the entire FAQ was outdated. I plan to update it sometime though, maybe I'll combine both his description and this one into the new thread.

The purpose of the thread was to combine a lot of the stickied threads in this forum to reduce the amount of threads stickied (if you notice that half of the 1st page alone is stickied threads).

Anyways, I think this should be closed, because the solution is given.
