"The Little Girl", by, John Michael Montgomery.

You know something? Songs and their stories tend to have an effect on me. This one is really sad. It talks about a little girl, with a drunk father and a mom who... just wasn't there, and didn't know Jesus. They fought and hurt each other all the time, and the little girl was scared all the time, hiding behind the couch in the living room. And it kept getting worse.

Then, one night, the Dad got really drunk... and angry. He killed the Mom, then committed suicide. Then the little girl got taken away by "the city", and was placed in a new home, where they actually took care of her.

When she got to the new home, they new parents took her to Sunday School. Her first day, the Sunday School teacher walked in, and she told the teacher that Jesus protected the little girl whenever her parents were fighting.  Things like these are so sad. It is just wrong.

I feel bad. How does thing song make you feel, and does it have any effect on you after listening to it?

As a Christian I'd probably cry too since I am sensitive and songs have a effect on me as well.

BluemageKyle : I am not a Christian though. I am an agnostic. But a lot of songs make me relate to it, or something of that sort of the other. Songs really do have an effect on me.

it didnt do much for me. As far as I know its not actualy true. And the main message seems to be god. The guy used a sad story to give it more of an impact.
There are songs that do effect me though.
Like kristy are you doing ok by the offspring. Real story about a real victim and really sad.

The one that always gets me is Everybody Hurts by REM. I think it's mostly remembering the video, which hurt. And Runaway Train by Soul Asylum-again for the video featuring actual pictures of runaway and missing children.

In my case, it's not really a single song, but an album.

The album in question is Hospice by The Antlers, and it's just an achingly painful and sad concept album about a hospital worker and a dying patient. They fall in love and get married, but the patient is emotionally (and possibly physically) abusive. The narrator--the hospital worker--wishes he didn't care so much about her, but he does, and is devastated when she succumbs to her illness at the end. It's a tough album to listen to, but the music is beautiful and the raw emotion is so very worth it.

I guess there is one song that's a bit of a tearjerker for me, and that would be Space Doggity by Jonathan Coulton, to the extent that I have only listened to it once despite him being a favorite musician of mine. It's a song about Laika, the first dog in space, and her death during the mission. It's told from Laika's point of view, and it's so very sad--when I listened to it, I sobbed like a baby.

The next closest thing would be Teen Idle by Marina And The Diamonds, and that's not really a tearjerker for me per se--it just makes me wistful and emotional regarding my adolescent years.
Thus it begins...

I was about to question whether my old thread on the same subject should make this be considered a dupe, but mine is around 3 months old, so I don't think it'd be too much worth bumping to kill this one. Unless the mods feel otherwise, that is.

Anyways, basically just the songs I listed there, specifically Dango Daikazoku and that one Angel Beats song, Nya~.
