The title really sums up the article, but the back story is a woman pregnant with kids was suffering complications.Hospital was calling in a specialist (whom was "on call" and considered on duty) and they never answered the page. The mother died with the twins soon following. The father is mainly suing because the hospital did not try to save the babies, as they were seven months along and could have had a chance to survive, even without the specialist.

It is obvious the hospital just is trying to save its own butt by claiming something they promote as false. It freaking angers me that they would just go back on their beliefs like that for a COURT case! I may not be a Pro-Life person, but stand by your dang beliefs, find another defense if you have to. Do not go spouting one set of beliefs than back out on them because they would be inconvenience you!

Any thoughts on this? Please note that this is only ONE PARTICULAR catholic hospital, and should not be viewed as ALL hospitals with religious affiliations. That is like saying the Westboro Baptist church represents all Christians!

what is new about hypocrisy. Religious and non play double standards all the time. Tbh they have probably damaged themself more than if they just paid the guy.

ruesen : That is truly sad. Corruption has been evident in the church, but going that far back for a court case? I'm not Catholic, but I am Christian, and this is pretty upsetting. Even if the "fetuses" weren't human beings (I believe they were), they still have to account for the death of the mother. 

Christ even warned against hypocrites. It's funny how little has changed in so many years. Every generation thinks its problems are the newest, but really... lying, selfishness, etc. has been around since Eve bit that apple.

Catholic church seems to be more focused on worshiping body parts of the dead anyway and the abortion issue is just convenient issue to bring up every now and then.

But anyway, the mother surely was not a fetus and when you are seven months pregnant, you cant really talk of an fetus wither so much. Besides, no religious organization should have no say in any hospitals. They should be neutral territories as far as I am concerned. A church is a church but a hospital is a hospital.

I can think of only two words to accurately describe this (well, I can think of a lot of words, but not all of them are family friendly ) : Ridiculous and outrageous. One of the biggest parts of Christianity is that ALL life is sacred, and I have never before heard of any Catholic arguing that life doesn't start at conception. And at seven months, they are distinctly ALIVE. It's not the most common occurrence, but babies are bore that early. Are they going to claim that all babies born prematurely are actually dead? I know there are a lot of contradictions and hypocrisy in what many Catholics say (please don't attack me for saying that, it's not meant to offend anyone), but the level of BS here is way beyond anything else. I know it's a terrible situation, and I kind of feel bad for saying this, but it's such ridiculous hypocrisy that it makes me want to laugh.

Way to go, St. Thomas More Hospital. You've managed to screw yourselves in about twelve different ways.
