Well, if you are using the RGR Plug-in emulator, you can use save states! Usually, it F2 to save a state, and F4 to load a state. Other emulators MIGHT have a save state feature as well, but I am not sure.

 As for how to save with the game's version of saving, I am not familiar with that game, unfortunately, and unable to help you there.

Save states work best because they allow you to save/load at any point of the game.
