I have a lot to say... but I think I'll summarize it with one line.

I liked XIII-2 better.

I liked the crappy spinoff more than the game it was spinning off. Thats like liking X-2 more than X.

Has nothing to do with the new battle system. Most of the game forces you down a narrow hallway. When it finally opened up, I just didn't care anymore.

Bad game coupled with idiots of characters in Vanille, Hope, and Snow... ugh at least I liked Snow. He was stupid but fun.

Vanille never let me like her, and Hope never impressed me either. Lightning was dull as well, and the only reason I played was to see what Fang was all about.

Sazh... was kind of forgettable, or would be ifhe didn't have the chocobo chick and an afro.

Overall a very dull boring uninspired game. XIII-2 was far better.

Maybe it is the best I dont voice out any real opinnion until I finish it. But for sure, for lots of hours it was just "smash x" and run through a corridor. I thing I am now at some point where it might turn interesting but still, all the flashy animation and graphics just dont seem to hide the fact that it just dosent seem as interesting or dosent have the same hook as the older games did. I mean, all the Final fantasy games before were the kinda games you just could not stop playing. With this one I have not bothered for a month now. Still I hope it will surprise me at some point.

I generally have stopped playing most modern Final Fantasies due to just not interested in learning a new battle system in every new game. So instead, I have taken to watching "Let's Plays" of them

I watched the Final Fantasy 13  Let's Play done by HCBailey, and I certainly enjoyed it. I do not think I would want to go through the game with that sort of battle system though. Instead, it just felt like a pretty movie, better watched than played.

I actually enjoyed a fair amount of the story, especially Hope and his desire of revenge. I was rooting for him up until his freaking change of heart, then I just hated him. The source of that misguided revenge was a touching moment for me, though, but it is not hard for me to get choked up in such a way, really.

Lightning was an all right character, but she also ticked me off at random times. I thought Sazh was amusing, but nothing too special, Vanille got on my nerves, Snow I wanted to hate cause Hope hated him (but after awhile I just stopped caring about both), and Fang was... just there. Although at one point, I really thought Fang and Vanille were going to have a thing for one another, but that did not happen (the plot really did not need it either).

So yeah, Hope was a favorite for awhile, then I hated him, game better watched than played, and I never even played the game so my opinions on that probably are less valid, if not invalid.

I have beaten the game, and I never really did like it.

I think I'd have to agree on the characters-the whole point is that you start to feel for the characters, and I didn't, really. They were kind of cardboard and cliche. The only one I really liked was Sazh, and even he was just...eh. Brooding emo, in your face toughie, stupid but lovable hero with high ideals, whiny brat who finds his courage, spazzy giggly idiot with more going on than it seems..where have I seen these characters at before? Oh, wait. Final Fantasy X. And 9. And...yeah, you get the picture.

Besides, I hated not being in total control of the other characters. Stupid morons would spam with cure when they were sitting on Cure 2 or 3. I was always like...whhhhhhhhhyyyyyy?

I wound't say bad its different people just say its bad because it was made for the Xbox 360 something Sony fans don't like and anywat everyone has there own likeness.
