I think it's a very good idea. I considered this before back when there was only like around 250 Pokemon but not there's like almost 600

But either way, this would be very awesome and there's many sites where you can get the sprite for each Pokemon. However, I don't have time to do this so if we did do a Pokemon rank, I'd have to hire someone to make it.

But yeah, love the idea.

I can't see why not, more options are almost always a good idea.

The only problem would be to rank the Pokémon, how would you tell which one gets lower/higher on the list?

DM: Yeah that would be a very difficult task. I suppose we could base it off of what level the previous Pokemon evolved into the current Pokemon and but than we'd have to find a way to figure the order of the baby and base Pokemon.

Another idea would be to do them all by their number...just an idea.

Well, I think a few people should discuss the order then based on that, someone can get the sprites. Number order doesn't really work, because there are some higher numbered pokemon that, well, suck

Well yeah I know that but 3 reasons why having it based on the Pokemon's number:
1. A lot easier
2. As more pokemon are created, more can be added to the rank since they'd be in order
3. As your rank goes up, you'll start to discover more and more pokemon (incase you didn't know of all the current ones) and you'd start out seeing Pokemon that everyone is familiar with

but having almost 500 sprites? I figure that would take a really long time to do. plus, I don't think any new pokemon will be coming out soon (within the next 2 years, at least). Also, I doubt people who don't know about all of the pokemon will be choosing the pokemon post ranks

But other people can still see their Pokemon rank even if their own rank is Pokemon. If your rank was set to Pokemon and mine wasn't, I'd still be able to see your rank as being Pokemon in the posts. Additionally, I'd set mine to Pokemon and I'm not familiar with all the Pokemon. There's so many that no one is going to remember them all unless their life is Pokemon.

And what were you expecting, us to do a Pokemon rank and not have them all?

unless there's a better way to order them, like maybe we could put the first forms of the pokemon first (in number order), then the second forms next (still number order) and the third forms after that (also number order). The legendaries would be last (in number order, of course. which works even better, because the last pokemon, Arceus, is considered the "god" of pokemon). It would take a little longer to organize them like that, but all someone would need to do is make a list of the pokemon in that order. I'd do it if necessary

I think that could work out pretty well actually. I mean that would be a lot less work than trying to figure out the order of all the pokemon based on their strength.

Ok sure but be sure to factor in baby Pokemon too.

you want me to put babies before normal first forms? I don't know if that makes sense since some of the babies are pretty strong compared to other first forms (like elekid compared to pidgey)

Yeah babies go before normal first forms. Babies just come first, that's the order of things. I don't know, what do you think? And you still doing this?

I support this idea. Its still a bit of sorting, but doing it the way ziggy said ^^^^^^ up is an ok idea to work off.

Which game would the sprites be from though?

Most likely Pokemon Diamond/Pearl or Platinum.

I may go get some sprites from platinum then and see if they are the right size to use...

Well, you could do separate ranks, with type matchups, it might be easier to do three ranks at first with Fire Pokemon, Water Pokemon and Grass Pokemon(the three starter pokemon elements). And then, from time to time you could add new ranks like Psychic, Rock, Fighting, etc. Some pokemon have two elements, (for example Geodude is Rock/Ground if I'm not mistake, or like Metagross, which is a Steel/Psychic) those pokemons could fall into categories which best represent them. I'd suggest you don't do a Steel or Dark rank since there's few pokemon with those elements, you could place these pokemons in either their counterpart's rank(for example, place Dark pokemon into the Psychic bunch) or simply find a new place for them. In my opinion, this MAY be less time comsuming since it'll give the people what they want, and it'll relieve some preassure off the shoulders of the creator. As for the organization of the pokemon, they should be number based with a few exceptions, for example, Pikachu is number 25 and it's evolution is obviously 26, BUT it's pre-evolution is Pichu, which is number 172, so I believe the order in ranks should be Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu. Also, there's some wiki sites that offer the order of pokemon by element and all that, but you gotta use the search fuction. Also, the data that I gave above on the order was based on the NATIONAL Pokedex.
