So I'm not too familiar with the rules but is it possible to use a controller for your computer for a speed run or a highscore? I was playing on the SNES games so I haven't tried elsewhere but it wouldn't let me configure. Why?!

Yeah, this is an SNES-only issue. The reason being is that to set your controls for SNES, you have to open the master menu which gives you access to EVERYTHING including stuff that would let you cheat. Other systems SHOULD still have the controller config enabled because those limit you only to controls, but I haven't actually tested it to be 100% certain.

Normally, the game will just use the controls for regular mode anyway so if you set it outside the highscore mode, the same controls will work inside highscore mode. This is how it seemed to work for NES anyway.

If you download the program XPadder, you can assign the default buttons onto your controller. If not Xpadder, I think there are other programs out there, but I found xpadder to suit my needs overall (and not just here).
