If you're using the basic layout code, not picking  color leaves it blank if I recall correctly.  Just don't choose one for the middle section.

Hmm.... if deleting the hexadecimal out of the box doesn't work, the only thing I know for you to do, is to re-create the layout.  Since you are using the simple creator, that shouldn't be hard to do. XD  Just don't put a color in for the middle this time.

I use the advanced creator which requires that you know coding, and you have to have 10 TP.

Try typing rgba(0,0,0, 0.0) where the color goes.  I've noticed that you can add little tidbits of code to the basic creator.  Maybe that will work?
