 Here are two things you might of done.
1. Did you delete any files from vizzed? The save states using the RGR plugin are saved on your computer.
2. When you saved did a message show up saying it saved. It might not of saved in the first place. In some computers you need to hold the "fn" button on your computer then press the save button.

I'd like to add the note (because it wasn't addressed in earthwarrior's answer) that in many arcade games, F2 is a service mode key which means trying to press it will throw you out of the game. This basically means you can't take a save state, or you'll lose what you were doing.

Save stating is unstable as it is in arcade games anyway and it's best to avoid using save states for them. Even when they do save properly, there are many times when loading the save state will just freeze your game.
