As a longtime fan of The Rolling Stones I was wondering if there were anyone in the Vizzed Community other than myself who will be watching their 50th anniversary concert tonight. It’s a shame that it is a pay-per-view special but the way I look at it, it will give a concert like experience with less likelihood for editing as you sometimes see on concerts that are taped to air on television at a later date. I always wanted to see the stones live along with a couple of other legendary bands but for one reason or another I was never able to, either couldn’t afford it or something always came up.

This seems to be the best of both worlds really. A good selling point for me was Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band also performing. I’ve been a Springsteen fan all my life much like the stones so it will make it well worth $40 to watch this. If Genesis were to get back together for good and do a concert like this I would gladly pay over $100.

If anyone else is watching tonight what else other than the stones are you looking forward to?

BlizzardWizard : Not that I'm aware he did the Sandy relief concert the other night with the stones and Springsteen. Far as I know tonight it'll be Springsteen as the lead in for the stones and Lady Gaga and a band called The Black Keys. I've never heard of The Black Keys but I am mostly an 80's music fanatic. Once I heard Springsteen was in on this I said I'm ordering it.

I'm not going to watch it. I wouldn't pay to see a concert on TV. It would just feel weird. Also if it is somethings 50th an anniversary I might not like it a lot.

earthwarrior : I've been to two concerts in person one was Celine Dion and the other was 3 Doors Down. I enjoyed both shows and was in the front row for the 3 doors down concert but I prefer watching on TV when I can. I know HDnet known now as AXS TV does concerts every Sunday and VH1 and VH1 Classic show concerts on a regular basis. $40 is relatively cheap to what the people who are there are paying. I'm not complaining.

thenumberone : Well if I could afford to go to either the stones or Springsteen in person I would. I couldn't afford to go to 3 Doors Down but I was invited by a friend who refused to take money for the ticket so I was actually lucky. I also went to see Limp Bizkit years ago so I take that back, three concerts not two. Limp Bizkit was fun until people started rioting then I had to run for it because my friend was in a wheelchair and had to get her out of dodge.

thenumberone : Oh they were coming out on stage one of those big entrance type of deals. All I saw was Fred Durst come through the entrance smoke and the next thing I know all hell is breaking loose. The people on the floor in the mosh pits broke down the barrier and all hell broke loose. People were jumping from the upper levels where we were and jumping down to the floor. As I said my friend was in a wheelchair so I had to get her out of there. I’m also disabled but if I were on my own I probably would have stayed. (Was back before I got the wake up call I refer to often. Admittedly I was young and stupid.) It was interesting though to see the police in full riot gear entering the arena as we were going out as quick as we could. The show up to that point was good if memory serves me Godsmack was the lead in for them.

If I could afford to do it I’d go to concerts a lot more often. I’m older now but not old beyond going to a concert every now and then. The stones are on my handful list of bands I want to see live. This might be the closest I get to them watching this concert but I want to see AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Genesis and a couple of others. I make no bones about it I’m an 80’s mark through and through but the older I’ve gotten the more appreciation I’ve gained for music before the 80’s very few bands of the 90’s sounded like they belonged in the 80’s. Today’s music by and large to me seems quite generic but I was born into the 80’s era which is what I consider Music’s greatest. I will say though watching Lady Gaga do Gimme’ Shelter with the stones a few minutes ago was quite good and quite disturbing at the same time lol.
