When playing Advanced Wars 2, I can save the game state pretty easily, but whenever I exit campaign, the game does not hold onto the information (eg. the campaign does not recognize that I started it). 

In the original Advanced Wars game, I am able to exit the campaign and still have that particular data saved. Anyone have any ideas?

Is there a normal save function in the game, too? Or does it save automatically every time (in the original)?
I just know that in other games on vizzed, if you save with f2 and then save normally, you can only load your save state with f4 after you restarted the game. There's no visible normal save state that you could load anymore. Because it only saves your f2 state.
(That means, if you would save with the normal in-game save feature, and then save with f2, there would be a visible normal save state in the game)

 I hope you understand what I mean, because my english is not really perfect and I hope that it helped.
