So it works like this,

After getting to Lauren region and accepting your gen 5 starter pokemon (oshawott, tepig or snivy), save the game immediately after all the long goodbyes of your 2 new found rivals. After saving, reset the game, when you're back in the game, move one spot and the pokemon are there again free for you to pick anyone you'd like. Don't forget to save though.

It might be possible that this trick works whenever u can get a new pokemon, or only here, I found it by accident as I just saved and went to sleep after taking one of the starters. Please do respond if u found out it works in other places too.
