I have been pagan for over 16 years and have been involved in about every aspect of it I have taught classes, run groups and covens and am now solitary. I also did many lectures at several different conferences. I know that paganism has a lot of misconceptions I really think I can help to shed some light on it. I am a really open person and I know that a lot of people have questions for a lesbian woman. I am 29 years old have never been with a guy and am in a stable relationship for over 3 years with a woman with children. The children call me mom and I am in the process of adopting them. Now I am willing to answer any question you all ask but please don't go against the TOS of the site.Anyway Feel free to have fun
I wanted to first mention that paganism is a broad term. It originally comes from the Latin word paganus which means country dweller. After emperor Constantine issued the edic of Milan and changed the official religion to Christianity before this people were free to worship whatever religion they wanted at one time alone in the city of Rome there were hundreds of different faiths and beliefs all co existing with each other. After his decree however the only people who remained worshipping the old ways were the people who live in the country hence who paganus became synonymous with those people to this day. The modern definition of pagan is anyone who practices a belief system that is not Judea-Christian in origin, so basically any religion not Christian Jewish or Islamic. I personally follow an eclectic path and have a very universal view on the universe. I don't have any one belief to be the "way" I believe its about being good to others learning all you can and sharing that with others.
As for being a lesbian I am proud of it. I have been gay my whole life my first girlfriend was at 14, in my youth I was very promiscuous I did a lot of parting, thought I was in love a lot, moved into a lot of different people house and had plenty of girls move in with me. LOL what does a lesbian bring to a second date... a U-haul LOL. I have been wild and crazy but now that I am 30 years old I have settled down a lot I live with my partner and our daughter I am a home body and rarely go out anymore. Let me know if there is anything else you all would like to know or anything you want me to clarify.

I don't have time to think of questions right now, but I just wanted to let you know that I was moving this over to the Cafe forum. I am doing this mainly because it really is a more mature topic, so this thread should be posted in by more mature users.

Right now, I only have about a minute to type this. I'll discuss it with you further later today. Ask Anything threads are no longer allowed unless you get special permission from the Global Moderators. Technically, this is an Ask Anything Thread. Now, this is a unique thread and I don't really want to close it. So what I would like you to do is edit your first post. Just talk a little bit about paganism and lesbianism. Kind of educate us a bit on it. Let people discuss it here. If they ask questions, that's cool. I went ahead and changed the title so it isn't titled like an Ask Anything Thread.

Interesting. Might I ask what Pagan religion you worship? (Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Roman) I'm interested in Pagan religion as its always fasinated me; so I hope to learn more about the religion from an actual Pagan worshipper!!

Now onto the Lesbian part. I've made no secret that I don't approve of Gay Marriage, despite the fact that I signed a petition to legalise Gay Marraige in my state (which succedded I should add). My belief is this...

"My preudice does not give me the right to discrimminate against a group of people who I've never walked into their shoes; nor have I lived the lives they have lived."

So I will appluad you for finding someone to love for the rest of your life and adopting a child who calls you mama (mind if I ask about the child; like is it a boy/girl, how old, his/her name, etc). Also did you get married in a church or just signed marriage papers? (The last part is optional as it could be uncomfortable to discuss since its personal).

Anyways nice to meet you and I will wait for a reply!!

I have edited my original post to include some background info on paganism. As for myself I worship more of a universal approach much of my beliefs come from a region in Mesopotamia called chaldea. The Chaldeans were a very early civilization and were the developers of astrology numerology and other disciplines. They held the title of magi the origin of the word magician. Much of the early cultures and beliefs across the world were influenced by these men. They even play an important part in Christian mythos as the three wise men at thirsts birth. There order goes back many centuries before. I also am very interested in Amazon legends and the Greeks and Romans. I cant say that I worship a god or goddess in particular most of the time I speak to the universe as a whole as I view the universe as a single thing we are all part of that has many different facets. I hope that helps answer your question I can get more detailed if you wish just let me know or if you have any other questions. As to the other questions you had. I have no problem with calling gay marriage something other than marriage civil union sounds kinda like getting hitched to the state in a room of accountants lol. But I am sure a compromise can be made I just want the same rights that straight people have what its called is of no concern. The child I am raising is actually the offspring of my significant other and my deceased brother they had a one night stand 12 years ago lost touch and then without even knowing she and I got together 3 years ago. Its a girl her name is ally she is 12. So its about as close to a biological child we could have together, When we found out it was both weird and exciting Since we are both pagan we had a private hand fasting ceremony with just each other and did a ritual together and exchanged .Hope that answers everything let me know what else you would like to know

What a nice name!! Interesting religion, I might have to take a look at Chaldea to learn more about it (I'm not very good with Mesopotamian religions other then Zoroastrian, Babylonian, and Phoneican. Let me ask you this then (if its okay with you?)

That being said I'm sure that once the Supreme Court decides upon the issue (rather soon acutally as they are debating taking up wheather DOMA is constitutional or not); that the Gay Rights issue will die done a bit (there is still the issue of wheather a private group like the Boy Scouts can deny admission to those who are Gay as according to Boy Scouts of America vs Dale; private groups has the power to decide what people can be denied admission.) That being said the issue could arise as to if Churches can also deny allowing Marriages to be conducted into church if the church has an anti-gay marriage policy under BSA vs Dale).

Anyways Nice to meet you again and thanks for the reply.

I really wanted to say that I am glad that someone posted up a thread about a topic like this, I was once into Wicca and everyone I talked too seemed to think I was some kind of evil Satanist. When it is just a harmless religion like Christianity, and I think that a lot of people take religion a little too far. But anyway, it is awesome to see some open mindedness in the world, and I wanted to ask a little question I know that Wicca and Paganism share a lot of similarities but what are some differences between the two? I have been kind of curious but never really had the time to search up Pagan rituals or anything like that.

To answer your question old school, I personally don't have a problem with private groups choosing to limit there membership in whatever way they want. I think business, groups, etc should have the freedom to do as they please, if they are successful then great if not they might have to address why. I also have no problem with a church choosing not to perform gay marriage's if its against there beliefs, There are plenty of places including churches who welcome gay and lesbians to worship and marry..I believe that once we start forcing people to do something they don't agree with is when you cross a line into fascism. I believe people should be free to live however they choose as long as it doesn't effect others negatively. Same with the other institutions I mentioned. I do believe that the government or anyone else should have no say in what people do so basically if people want to marry they should be allowed to but only in a place that is conducive to there views. Why would I want to get married or be part of an organization that inst happy to have me there. I would never force someone to let me be somewhere I'm not wanted when there are so many places that I can be that I not only want to be but where I am wanted by the people who run it.

Interesting and I agree with you on your points. But like I said before, Supreme Court is taking up an issue on gay-marrage and that will get the ball rolling (maybe?) to legalizing Gay-Lesbian marriage in the United States. I'm kind of making a sandwhiching your thread a bit, so I'll cool down a bit on the thread to let other people ask you questions.

Anyways Nice to Meet you and Good luck on Life!!

XxEzraxX : to answer your question basically you could say that all wiccans are pagan but not all pagans are wiccans. Wicca was developed by Gerald gardener in the 1950's using Celtic and other ancient beliefs. Its primarily nature based and has a god and goddess. For many those are the goddess of fertility and the god of the hunt. However that can and does vary. Wicca is one of the most widely recognized of the pagan faiths some others being Hinduism and bud ism. I like to think of paganism as a tree and there are many branches to it. One of those would be the Celtic/nature branch and on that branch you would find Wicca. I hope this helps explain some of the differences I didn't know how detailed you wanted my response to be if you would like more detail feel free to ask or if you have anything else you want to know about paganism or lesbianism don't hesitate to ask

Glad I could help you out let me know if there is anything I can do to help I really want to help people understand about both these topics. I think the world would be a lot better place if people understood each other better and had a deeper understanding of people they would otherwise have little to no contact with

Well first off let me say you don't sound like a jerk at all. I started this thread to help explain to people who might not have experience with either of these areas. First off you don't choose to be gay just like people don't choose to be straight. It amazes me sometimes how many straight people think that gay people choose to be gay. You cant help who your attracted to, when I look at a female I feel an attraction to them I have a reaction that I don't have with men. I have never been with a guy not because I have anything against men I just cannot get aroused by them. On the other hand a woman can get me aroused quite easily. If my girlfriend touches me it gives me tingles and makes me hot, just the thought of a guy touching me in the same way make me queasy, and disgusts me. I would bet you would feel about the same as I do if a guy touched you. I don't think any gay person would choose to have all of the negative things that come with being gay, such as the persecution the discrimination. I have had people throw things at me, yell at me, threaten me, the lesbian bar I used to go to was firebombed. All these are just the tip of the iceberg. I don't know anyone who would choose to live like that. It is because being with woman is the only thing that feels right for me. As for paganism I did choose it and I feel it was the best decision I ever made. When I was 13 years old I was very active in the chrstian church I sang in the choir, I was involved in youth group and helped doing a lot. The only problem was I didn't feel any spiritual fulfillment. I decided I would go on a spiritual journey and find a religion that gave me a feeling of spiritual fulfillment. I studied everything I could find on religion, different denominations of Christianity, bud ism, Hinduism, nudism, Islam, Wicca, druidism, and dozens of others. I gained that fulfillment thru the study of these religions and realized there was no one single path to enlightenment or one true religion. It was more about doing good for yourself and others. Its about feeling happy and making the world a better place. This led me to choosing paganism because it encompasses so many beliefs and practices. I feel it allows for an openness and a freedom.
It is because being with woman is the only thing that feels right for me. lesbianwitch : Interesting explanation but It is indeed a choice to be gay as much as it is a choice for me to be here. I do know everyone is born into sin and I'm not trying to bash or anything but sometimes when you make the choice you may not know the consequence's as much as you do now. Sometimes things when you are young can influence what you do later in life(for example I ended up finding some kinda attraction to futanari and I dunno why)but I have been working on trying to get rid of that and I know its sad but some role plays I do are Yuri which I dunno why I do them either. But what I'm trying to say is I do indeed believe it is a choice as according to the KJV Bible it says that a Man shall leave thy father and thy mother and shall cleave unto his wife and shall become one flesh(not exact but quite close better to check it) but also in the Bible I think in Romans one I can't remember but Peter goes on a whole thing about gay people because there was a time then when people chose to go to the same sex for pleasure. I'm not trying to say your going to hell or anything(only way to go to heaven is to be Saved by Jesus Christ meaning accept him as personal Lord and Savior)because I do not know if you have done that. I do like to see people I consider friends saved and going to heaven with me. But I do hope this enlightens a few things as well.

Here's a general homosexuality question:  Do you find guys good looking or attractive at all?  Does every male look hideous or is it more of a disinterest.

Also, are you intimidated by dating bisexual girls who may leave you for males or does that not change your thoughts?

Okay this might sound kind of creepy and I don't mean it too be. But if your in a public place like a YMCA and some women are undressing in front of you, how do you handle the situation that a woman can get you aroused easily?

The reason why I ask this is because I was listening to radio and there was a story about a transexual man turned woman who was in the girls lockeroom at a resort and was naked in a spa (I should point out that he had an male sex part); and a lot of mothers' whose daughters who use the resort for a school swimming event was not happy about it. This situation might be completely different to what you experience since you were born a woman, but I guess it kind of goes similar to the "ackward" part.

(Again I don't mean for this to sound creepy).

InsaneGamer : This isn't a discussion about whether or not it is a choice. You can choose to be as incorrect as you want, but you can also choose to not post it here. If you have a question feel free to ask it, but please do not tell someone what the have and have not chosen to do or be.

lesbianwitch : I know you would like to educate this user on how it is not a choice but please remember that some people will refuse to learn. I don't want to tell you what you can and can't discuss, but neither do I want to close this thread because of one pig-headed person stuck in the bible.

warmaker : While I don't find guys attractive in the sense of for sexual attraction. I am able to distinguish different features on men which are less or more appealing. I am sure it is similar to you as a male seeing a guy and saying that he is or inst good looking. I certainly have my own traits which I find appealing in women and many of them go far beyond physical appearance. For example a woman who might not be physically attractive by the standard of the day I might find extremely so, based on there interests there personality and intelligence. I would say the ability to have a intellectual conversation is something that can turn a girl that was a 5 into a 9 or even a 10. When it comes to men however the male form to me is not sexually appealing. Its not so much as a turn off (however depending on the guy and there attitude or in some cases appearance it can be) as much as it is just not a turn on. In fact there is a much larger possibility a woman who doesn't take care of themselves or is simply gross could be much more revolting than a guy. Simply because men don't queue in my mind as potential mate. Neither do all women of course however being a woman would be the first perquisite that begins a long list of other things that in the end determine if I am attracted to them. So defiantly more disinterest than anything else. As for bisexual girls, I am not a big fan I have rarely dated one, a lot of girls these days claim to be bi because it is appealing to men. I have had girls hit on me in a bar and flirt with me even make out with me and at the end of the night go home with a guy ( one reason I like lesbian bars). If I am in a relationship with a bisexual girl I don't have any fear that they will leave me for a man any more so than I do that she will leave me for a woman or that a lesbian I am seeing will leave me for another woman. Its a possibility of course however in any committed relationship you have to have trust and its pointless to be in a relationship with someone if you are constantly worrying about the other persons level of commitment. I have been involved with women who I was in a more casual relationship and with those different rules apply. I hope that covers your question if not please let me know or if you have other questions feel free to ask.
OLDSCHOOL42:As for your question old school, transgenderism can certainly be a touchy subject. If the person in question has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, which essentially means they have the brain of the opposite gender of there body, I still feel that it is important to respect others. Technically a trans gendered individual brain is female until they have all the proper surgery its important they respect others. Some places are more tolerant of them than others. I however think in the situation that you describe the trans gendered person is out of line. Using a bathroom where a stall is available is one thing but presenting a male body to people in an environment where it is inappropriate especially one with children present is deplorable. They should wait until there surgery is complete or at the very least use modesty and discreetness while they are in transition. As to your question about how I handle being in a situation where there are other females who are nude around me let me start off my saying that  while I might see a female whom I find attractive it is not really a situation in which I would have an issue. I do rituals quite often where the participants are nude and depending on the ritual arousal would be inappropriate. Not saying that it does not happen however its simply something you learn to live with and behave in an appropriate manner. I would never do anything that would cause someone to feel uncomfortable. I do my best to remain polite and be professional unless in a situation that is conducive to allowing myself to move beyond a civil and or appropriate situation. I think its rude to stare at someone who is naked for a purpose other than to arouse or to allow myself to become so unless the person behaves in a way that shows she is comfortable and welcomes that kind of connection. Please let me know if this answered your questions if so I look forward to your alls next questions I have enjoyed them all and hope its mutual. And please don't worry about offending me feel free to ask anything you like even if you think its to personal, I doubt there is anything you would ask that I wouldn't answer no matter the subject.

lesbianwitch : Well your username fits perfectly into this thread...  Though Paganism isn't really anything to do with witches I suppose...

I don't really have that many questions to ask about either subject... I've had a few really good lesbian friends and I was in a previous relationship with a Pagan.. So there isn't really anything that confuses me or intrigues me that much.

It just makes me laugh how some people question what makes you attracted to women.... I mean it's the same as heterosexual relationships...
(got a really funny image of Lesbians/gays doing some sort of weird dance like animals now

Anyways let me ask a totally random question.... Do you like muffins or cupcakes better?
