I have to give it to the games. I really like RPGs and at their roots, the games are fun and interesting RPGs. The anime may have some charms... but I dunno... it kinda gets old after a while since it's always following Ash and you get tired of Ash after a while always being the same little kid for over a decade and yet still somehow working in the new games' content. I think there's a reason why the games have a different protagonist each time.
