From reading the comments, it seems like the game has been broken for years... makes it seem unlikely it'll get fixed.

I don't really have a clue why it doesn't work. RGR uses VBA and I know I've played the game to completion in VBA without any errors.

I also wonder if that one spot is the only place it freezes. If I remember tomorrow, I'll test loading a save state at a point past the freeze point and seeing if the game will run normally beyond it.
