It is possible! However, you're still newbie status, so not for you. You have to have your account for a week and make 10 posts. I forget if it's an either/or situation, but I believe it's both. After that, you can do the fun stuff.

As far as I am aware, it is a 'both' situation.  When you achieve member status, lilryan, you can change your profile picture by clicking on the link to the very top left of the page.  It says 'Edit Profile & Settings".  From there it's pretty self explanatory.

Yes, it's both. You basically need a minimum of 10 posts by your 7th day here to trigger the switch. If you don't have that many posts by that point, it'll happen when you reach 10.

Do note that it doesn't happen the second you meet the criteria. It actually takes a full day to go through... so if you're on day 7 with 10 posts, it won't get rid of your Newbie status until the following day (day 8). This is true even if it takes you 300 days to get to 10 posts... you'll still not change status until the day after that 10th post is made.
