Pokemon Yellow is a great game developed by Game Freak , published by Nintendo , and Designed by Satoshi Taijiri ( The Director ) and Ken Sugimori ( The Artist ) . This game was released on the date of September 12, 1999 on Japan , October 1, 1999 on North America , and on July 7, 2000 on Europe . The Genre of this game is much like of a Role Playing Video Game like the other pokemon game series too . Along with this Pokemon Yellow , a Pokemon Special Edition themed Game Boy Color was also made and released .Game Play :This Pokemon Yellow game is more like an enhanced version of the games Pokemon Red and Blue on the Game Boy Color . Same like the other Pokemon games , this game also consists of 2 basic screens ( Scenes ) , the over world screen where you can navigate and control your player all over the map , can change the arrangement of your pokemons on your party you can also check their stats , moves , and many more others , you can also check whats in your bag ( items , potions , pokeballs , TMs / HMs , etc. ) . The next screen is called the battle screen where you can only see when you encounter a battle with a wild pokemon or battle with a trainer , when either of this two happens your screen automatically changes to the battle screen mode and the pokemon that leads your party is sent out for a battle ( except if you are in a safari ) , in this screen you can choose an attack that will be performed by your current pokemon , use items ( only potions , pokeballs , things that changes your stats , etc. ) , change your current pokemon or you can flee from battle . If your opponent's HP drops to zero ( 0 ) you will win the battle and your current pokemon receives a certain amount of exp based on the level of your opponent and may level up your pokemons and gain an extra stat points and may also learn some moves .
You can also catch pokemons if you want your game play to be much easier . While you are battling a wild pokemon , you can throw a pokeball at it or lower its HP first . If the wild pokemon is successfully caught , it will be recorded to your pokedax automatically and will be yours . Some of the factors when capturing a pokemon is its HP ( the lower the better ) , your pokeball ( the higher the catch rate the better ) , and the rarity of the pokemon ( if the pokemon is very rare , it is harder to catch ) . The ultimate goal of this game is to complete your records / entries of your pokedex , to do that you should first capture all of the base pokemons and evolve them to their final forms , and trading them , you should obtain all the 151 different pokemons including Mew . Since we are playing this game online , we cannot trade pokemons and battle with each other . I think you can only do this with the Net play item on the item shop that costs 25,000 Viz or buying the Laptop item that costs a massive 50,000 Viz .
This pokemon yellow offers you many new features including Pikachu as the only option as your starter ( which didn't surprise me ) . Pikachu is given a voice and a different personality if you compare it to the other pokemon that you already caught and the pokemon that you are planning to catch . I also think that if you level pikachu up it will become happy and by frequently fainting him will cause a disappointing and he will become unhappy . So , give your pokemon love especially your Pikachu .
Plot And Settings :
Same with the Pokemon Red and Blue ( R / B ) and Fire Red and Leaf Green ( FR / LG ) this game also takes place / occur in the Region of Kanto which a species of 151 different pokemons live . The objectives of the game is a lot like the games said above ( R / B and FR / LG ) , except for some of the events that will happen at the beginning of the game and in some point of the game . For example , you can only pick Pikachu as your starter , but the errand that Professor Oak gave you is just the same . At the start , there is only one pokeball at the table of Prof Oak ( that is eevee ) while you attempt to get it as your starter , Gary / Blue immediately bumps you and takes eevee's pokeball . Because of that you got Pikachu instead . Same in the anime version of the game , Pikachu also don't want to evolve . You can also obtain / get all of the original starters of the game said above ( R / B and LG / FR ) those starter pokemons were ( Squirtle , Charmander , and Bulbasaur ) . You can also pick different pokemons of your own choice to defeat all the 8 gym leaders and the Elite 4 too , all while you are battling the evil gang Team Rocket .
Extra Reviews :
Graphics : The Graphics isn't entirely retrospective for me . The game's graphics are not that perfect for me . The very first thing that I noticed was the pokemon's back sprites , those back sprites of pokemons are not that good for me .
Sounds : Sounds were really awesome ! Pikachu really speaks and the extra background tunes were quite catchy too .
Addictiveness : I really liked this game . I think I will play this game over and over again until I get bored .
Depth : The Depth of the game was not big . It took me a very small time to finish this . Plus , like the other pokemon games this is the same as them too .
Story : The story was great , kinda follows some of the vents on the anime series of pokemon . You can obtain all of the starters from Kanto ( Which is the best part of the game ).
Difficulty : The game was not that difficult for me . So , nothing special to see here !
Overall : Overall , the game is great if you want entertainment . I highly recommend you guys to play this !! Plus , it has a squirtle !
