Yeah, ditch the MLP theme.

For dungeon ideas, make sure the dungeons aren't overly long. Some can be long, but the length of exploring a dungeon should be from exploring different routes. Reward the players for going down a path that isn't the way to the end. Make sure the paths aren't straight all the time, give them some variety, and for the love of god, don't make them symmetrical. Make the dungeon feel naturally formed, rather than artifically made, unless it's like a tower of steel. if it's man made, make it look man made.
