Just started learning how to do Exponents and Monomions and other Lessons dealing with it ; It's getting really confusing can somebody out there give an example or a few pointers on how to do it? I have a homework assignment on the lesson due tomorrow and it was assigned today.

Gameplaya: I'm going to assume that this is a Geometry question. Do you have any notes? If so then review that quickly. Most of the time that will help out the most (unless your teacher is terrible at giving notes or you aren't a good note taker...no offense.) Also what assignment did your teacher specify (like read pages XXX-XXX and answer questions X, Y, Z) If you can post one of your homework questions on here that can help out a ton. Sorry if I'm not helping out but I need some more info before I can help.

Exponents are numbers that tell you how many times a number is multiplied by itself. Whatever the smaller number is that's how many times you multiply the constant (number) by.

Example: 2(3) (I'm using parenthesis for the exponent- the smaller number).

This can be defined as 2x2x2. Since the exponent is 3 you multiply 2 by itself 3 times. The answer to that is 8.

Kinda get it?

I assume the second word is supposed to be monomial, but basically it just a variable multiplied by a constant or another variable. So X2 is a monomial. So is 2X2Y.

And I'll list a few pointers for exponents:

X * Xn = X(n + 1) for example X * X2 = X3
X(-n) = 1/(Xn)
X(1/n) = nX
X0 = 1

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of right now. If you have any specific questions, though, we could probably be of more help.
