I tried to install the Autodesk 3DS Max free version for students. During the installation process, a box popped up that told me I needed to close something. It said monitor.exe was running and it must be closed to complete the installation.

I have no clue what that is or how to close it. My professor isn't familiar with this issue. Any ideas?

P.S. I'm also posting this on the Kitty Corp forum.

Can you see the process in your task manager? If so, try ending it from there and see if you can complete your install. The process should start itself when you launch windows, so the next time you reboot it'll be running again (I'm honestly not sure what it does, though).

Try disabling your antivirus software while you're installing. It seems that it might be part of some antivirus suite.

Lazlo Falconi :

Installation failed the first time. I disabled AVG and Windows Firewall and that mostly worked until I hit the monitor.exe issue.

soxfan849 :

It was in the Processes section. One of my friends suggested it and I was kicking myself for not thinking of that myself. Installation is all good now.

Local Mods :

Done here.
