you shouldnt.
Oh no, someone mocked my beliefs, the world will never be the same.
Its called freedom of speech, and its a two way avenue.
The reaction has been ridiculous, in the middle east they have been killing and destroying. Do you honestly think that will change peoples views of muslims?
If youre sad enough to care, protest. Dont turn to murder.
Hell, the guys that made it were supposedly egyptian christians, and theyre killing embassy staff? They have no link to what is done by civilians.

The film has been purposely dubbed and edited to elicit maximum outrage from Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad is depicted as a pedophile, a homosexual, a religious phony, a philanderer, a womanizer and a bloodthirsty dictator.

If the lashing out reaction that has been caused by words is killing and bombing it makes me think what the religion is really all about.

I have Muslim friends and I know they wouldn't never do the heinous acts of violence just because someone said something.

I can't comment too much on the movie as I haven't seen it but I do think what is happening in that part of the world because of this movie is tragic. As an atheist it just affirms my belief that our world is better off without religions entirely.

It also makes me glad to live in the country I live in as we generally don't get this kind of reaction from conflicting beliefs. There is a movie coming out in a few months about Jesus being fabricated by the Romans to try and control the Jewish rebellion of the 1st century and I don't expect it to cause reactions comparable to this Innocence of Muslims movie.

Well I'm a Muslim and I'm not really offended by this. It's just... meh, if anyone believes this that dandy for them. The whole protesting thing in the mid east is hugely exaggerated too. If you don't believe me, how come you only see about 50-100 protesters being violent, where as during the peaceful revolution in Egypt you saw a zoomed out crowd of thousands. The media is obviosly trying to put down Islam, I mean why else would my local news station start covering this on 9/11 of all days. I don't how it looks in other countries such as the UK, Australia, or even Pakistan, but here in the US it's severely biased.

Of *course* it's biased. For example, as many people pointed out when James Holmes opened up on that theater the other month, no news outlet in this country *ever* calls a white man or non-Muslim a terrorist anymore. He's a shooter or a killer or an assailant; were he black he'd be a thug; if he were Arab or Muslim then he'd be a terrorist. People reveal oodles about what they really think (even more than they themselves consciously know) with their word choices. The media is *horrendously* biased in an anti-Islamic way and there is no foreseeable end to that.

People are so predictable, and no kind of person moreso than a bigot. Speaking of suspicious word choices, you do know what the filmmaker will say, don't you, if people ever corner him and demand to know why he lied to his actors about what they were in and redubbed crucial words and lines in the editing? Is it not *painfully* obvious? It's because he knew that he would never be able to get his message out to the world otherwise because it's not "politically correct". Forty to one he'll use that exact phrase; they always do. Persecutors always feel persecuted. Of all people I could be quoting it's Dan Barker for some reason but I absolutely agree with him when he said, "I used to think it was tough being a Christian in this big, bad old world. You want to see something interesting? Try *not* being one."

RalphTheWonderLlama :
Now who's being biased? your turning this into a race thing, a , those 'whites' statements.
I said to you on the debate about god, you were doing an, those 'atheists' thing.
You need to stop with the grouping people who are different to you, its pretty prejudiced.

Now to address what you said.
"no white man or non muslim..."
The ira were labeled terrorists.
There are white groups in europe designated terrorist.
The neo nazis are terrorists.
You just want to believe this is an attack on you.

"The media is *horrendously* biased in an anti-Islamic way"

On that too, since he pointed it out.
No, the media is simply typical in trying to get views from people. its nothing against islam, its just they want controversy. If they said oh, about 10 guys protesting this film got seriously p'd off and turned violent that wont sell.
OMG, massive fight at us embassy, everyone tunes in.
Its like the financial crisis, greece is dead in the water as far as news watchers are aware.
I know a greek, he told me categorically it was exagerated by the media.
They want fear, they want outrage, they, want, ratings.
Is that alright?debateable, id say no, but then those watching it are essentially giving an automatic thumbs up to it so if you disaprove, show it by tuning off.

"You want to see something interesting? Try *not* being one"
I thing more interwesting would be seeing no one prescribe to religious afiliation. Undoubtably we'd find something else to get p'd off about, but thats humanity for you.
Incidentaly, are you even aware that what you are portraying as a western, white man made film is actually reportedly made by an EGYPTIAN coptic christian? It seems a lot of people who got p'd off never bothered to find that out, in fact, it seems most people havent even seen it. It poped up on my youtube and i watched it, i failed to see why they cared. The only offense i can take is my time was wasted watching such garbage, beyond that i dont give a jot.

Incidentally, since news is apparently not rating driven but just anti islam, why dont you read this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19691510
White made news, clearly indicating that libyans actually attacked the militias for attacking the us embassy, and that even the government are driving them out.
Its all about the ratings. tell the story as dramatically as you can.

Seeing as how I *am* white it would awfully awkward of me to make anything into a "those whites" issue. Rather it's a "those awful, manipulative vultures of the media" issue. And you yourself just pointed out that they care about nothing except ratings and will go to any means necessary to get them. What I don't understand is why you seem to regard this as mutually exclusive with racist connotations. Racism can permeate anything if that thing is done by a racist mind, or else for the sake of drawing on or appeasing vaguely racist cultural trends or attitudes. I think we're on the same side here: you just haven't realized it.

TBH i think you haven't realized it. I was agreeing that the media was biased, but disagreeing it was racism. Its just bias to make a news story. As the middle east is so far away yet so present in our mind, perfect means of ratings.
As i said, its up to the viewer to decide.
I wouldn't call it racism, since they aren't actually setting out to alienate them as a people, simply to shock its audience.

It seems to me that the only problem here is a communication breakdown. I don't define racism as a type of motive but a type of action. Even if it's done insincerely as a detail in the means to a different end, or to pander to an audience, it's still racism--by any clear and practical use of the word.

Speaking of means (how do you pluralize something already ending with an S?) to an end, I think I've gained enough Viz points for now, so permit me to retreat into the main site for a while until I need them again.

I never said I thought the media was racist, but exactly as you say it's biased, and all for the sake of ratings. This is all really just a phase as it was with other races such as the japanese and later the chinese. One day, when this whole thing has calmed down, no one will really care about 9/11 just as how Pearl Harbor Remembrance day isn't very significant anymore. Just like you said, humanity will always find something to be p'd off about. I chose however to not get p'd off about it. I chose that if I'm upset about something, I'll fix it, and if I can't, I won't care. I wish others would do the same too.
