I heard about this via Kwing News. Here's the article he linked everyone to.

According to Capcom's Vice President, the Mega Man series has "too many competing sub-brands for a reboot" of the original series. I am not a fan of the Mega Man series, but even I have to say this shocks me to see that Mega Man may have been put to rest. This cannot necessarily be confirmed, but the speculation leads me to it. *Gasp* Megaman is an iconic figure to CAPCOM. I hate to say, but I do think Megamans time is near
I don't understand why there not using him. He has great abilities, great soundtrack in his game, 
great bosses, good game play and they throw him off to the side. What a shame

I believe you misread the point of the story. The point is that Fans have been beating down the door asking for a reboot in the series. They didn't say that they would be against rebooting the franchise..I think what they are getting at is there are 7 sub brands of the franchise...so which one would be rebooted if they were to do so.

Also they have failed to see returns on games that have come out in the past 10 years (aside from 9 and 10 which were basically wii-ware titles.)
