My favorite game is "Castlevania: Bloodlines". However, I'm beginning to wonder if the rare chance to play it here is worth all the pain and suffering it takes me to do so. The game (and a lot of your Genesis games, as well as I think some other systems) seems to work only when it jolly well feels like it. About 14 out of every 15 times I just get audio with a black screen, and sometimes not even that much. For some odd reason it usually helps to re-download ("repair") your retro game plug-in--actually, I have to do it *every time* I log in or else the game won't work for me. But today I tried that about five times in a row and *still* no dice. Just a black screen and the music. It's like the computer or the site is mocking me, tantalizing me by letting me play the game juuuuuust every now and then, to give me false hope.

It is because your computer is not automatically switching it's graphics to 16-bit. So you get a black screen with only the audio. You will just have to do it manually. How you do it depends on what computer software you have. But no matter what you have, it is a simple process. Just google it and you will find step by step directions that takes like 10 seconds to do.
