How does 2-1 Pens sound?

That was a much better game than Saturday's. Fleury made some really nice saves, including that against breakaway shot. I just really hope that he manages to keep it together on Friday. And Scuderi saved our ass in the third with those blocks, holy s*** that had me scared.

it was a pretty good game.

I didn't like the goaltender interference call early in the game. Other than that I think the calls were pretty good. There are always some missed calls but I think it was more even this time around. Early calls went to Pittsburgh and later calls went to Detroit. They had plenty of chances late in the game to tie it up but couldn't.

And now we have a game 7!!!!! I'm really looking forward to it. Do or die this time. No matter who wins someone is hoisting the Stanley Cup around Detroit. I personally hope it's Pittsburgh but I don't know if they can pull it off. They got the win to force game 7 but a home win isn't the same as beating detroit at home. But if Pittsburgh can manage the win then I think they deserve the cup. Going 7 games with a team like Detroit is tough and Pittsburgh will be lucky to get out of Detroit with that cup.

yeah, hockey has more continuous action than most sports.

devonm: fair enough. Basketball is pretty good.... I watch it almost as often as hockey... but I don't get nearly as many basketball games on tv as I do hockey.

ziggy: yeah. I wasn't sure if they could pull off game six... I knew there would be desire but sometimes when it's a do or die game some teams do too much to win rather than just play their system.

Honestly my biggest worry for game 7 is if Fleury can overcome his bad luck in Detroit. He's a very good goalie, but it is obvious that he is not comfortable there. I think that if he and the rest of the team can get over that then we should be fine... if not, well, then it is going to me a much tougher game. Either way, chances are I am going to be screwed out of seeing the game thanks to a family dinner since we just got back from Pennsylvania. Grr.

Well, if NBC is broadcasting it then there is a good chance that they will show it as it happens, meaning that the game will start at 5pm PST so there is a good chance that we should be able to actually catch most of the game. At least that is our plan. Right now we are too distracted by the new kitties to really decide what to do.

People can believe what they want about Crosby but he is one of the best players in the league and with Malkin on that team too it should be no surprise they've gone to the finals 2 years in a row. I hope they win... I've never enjoyed watching the same team win. Interference didn't get called on that play and if you watch the way he hits him he went for the knee.... of course he didn't "intentionally" try to hurt him but I find that hard to believe when watching a hit like that....

I admit I didn't think they could do it either.... in Detroit to win a game 7 I knew was going to be tough.... the third period was one of the most 1-sided affairs I've seen in a long time.... off the cross bar with like 3 minutes left (not sure the exact timing).... such a good way to end the series.... and that save on Lidstrom with like 2 seconds left.... that will go down as one of the biggest saves in Cup history.... such a great game!

I got to see the first two periods, so I saw the game winning goal. Sad that I didn't get to see that save but I will find the clip online. But yeah, boyfriend's mom called us at dinner to tell us the Pens won and I started dancing in my seat in the middle of the restaurant, I was so happy!

And I guess I'll ask Ziggy because he'd be more impartial then I feel right now. Do you think the hit was at least penalty worthy? Total interference in my opinion... if Crosby had gotten another stride or 2 he might have caught the puck and I doubt the puck was close enough for him to play it at the time of the hit....

It was nice to see him come back and take 1 shift in the third period. I bet if I was able to do that I would totally as well. Up 2-0 going into the third I would be taking at least 1 shift in order to play the third period of the game I won the stanley cup in.

But yeah, the third period was crazy. Detroit got so many chances... and after that goal by Ericsson I think the place went crazy. I knew if Detroit managed 1 goal that the rest of that period was going to get intense.... and I was not dissapointed... shot off the cross bar and several other very close chances through that period. I watched the highlights of the game on the NHL website so I saw the Red Wing's goal and the bounce off the crossbar and that save against Lindstrom at the end. I really wish I could have seen the whole period but it was great to watch even as highlights. And the awarding of the cup! It seriously made me tear up a bit to watch that, I was so happy.
