I didn't even read the story and I was already having a good chuckle.  I did read it, but it's pretty much all in the picture.

What kills me is... What made that lady think she could replicate the painting?!?  Obviously she can't paint like the original artist, and I'm pretty sure that at her age, she should know her level of skill in painting. She HAD to know hers wasn't going to turn out great.  So why did she do it?  Did she figure God might bless her with the talent for the one job?  And if He didn't, she could just apologize for it later?

I guess it's kind of akin to taking risks by driving through all red lights because you figure you can just say 'sorry' if an accident takes place...

I renamed the thread, because "haha" doesn't help anyone identify what it's about at all.

Anyway, I heard about this when it had first happened and felt like it wasn't a big deal. I don't know about whether or not she deserves to be able to demand royalties, since she altered the painting without the church's consent; but she says she'll donate her cut of the profits to a charity of her choice, so it's clearly not about her trying to get rich off of anything.

dearrrry me.  Yes, it was a terrible job but - the cream of the joke is, the ruined restored picture is generating more interest than the original. People are flocking to see it and the lady who carried out the work has asked for a cut of the takings.  She claims she is the genius who inspired it!  I think she had a point
