Simply put, which NES Zelda game do you prefer? Zelda I or Zelda II?

Although I PREFER The original Zelda, I like both games. I know a lot of people give Zelda II a hard time, but I personally like that they tried to do something different. It's a challenging game that is fun to play through.

Well, I prefer Zelda I, why, you ask? I will compare what is good and bad about both games to me:

Zelda I:

Pros:

+ So many items to hold up.
+ I played this game first.
+ The game that started the Zelda series.
+ Very fun top down game.
+ Upgrade sword.

Cons:

- One life before Game Over.
- Very long game. (well, it isn't really a con.)
- Big difficulty, but I beat the first quest using only 40 continues.
- Confusing dungeon order, layout, and maps for second quest.
- In the credits, the creators of the game use Nick names, like Ten Ten.


Zelda II:

Pros:

+ Only sidescroller game in the Zelda franchise.
+ EXP, and leveling up 3 different abilites.
+ Learn spells from wizards.

Cons:

- I never beat the game because...
- The game's difficulty ramps up way too much and too fast.
- Gannon on the Game Over screen is scary as hell.
- Seizure death whenever you die.
- Uses a sound effect that is used in Castlevania whenever you take damage.
- Enemies are too hard to kill without upgrading.
- EXP grind.
- The Great Palace, you need all the items to enter.
- The bosses require a strategy to kill.
- Final bosses are way too hard. (I never got far into the Great Palace.)


So yeah, sorry for the huge list. I prefer Zelda I for all the reasons and comparison.

I think The Legend of Zelda is better because it's a true classic and I've played it lots of times on the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Gameboy Advance (GBA Remake).

I totally understand that some people might be turned off by the difficulty...but how can someone say it's a "Con" that the bosses have a pattern you need to follow to kill? I'm pretty positive that any video game boss ever uses a pattern of some sort that you have to figure out to beat him/it

Zelda 1 is a better and fun game they are both good but Zelda one is the way to go.

I have a choice to vote for The Legend of Zelda or Zelda II The Adventure of Link. Honestly, I pick Zelda 1 because Zelda II is different from the other Zelda games because it has side scrolling and a level up system. Zelda 1 make you journey through the Overworld or known as Hyrule as Link who has to find the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom. Ganon has the other Triforce, The Triforce of Power. This game is awesome even though it is an NES game.

I choose Zelda 2 for the following reasons:

     Difficulty: The game is as tough as nails the first time you attempt to beat the game. I Died 67 times before completion (mostly in Grand palace)
But I love the challenge this game gives you and when you win the game you can say 'Hey I beat Zelda II!!!' unlike today's games like when you say 'Hey I beat COD' they will say say 'so what, anyone could.'

     RPG Elements: I like skill and upgrades in games, and how they are possible to get early or skip until later, (actually I am taking a low life run in the game right now) and grinding can be fun as well.

     Replayability: the replayability is high because after you beat the game, you have gained so much fighting skill that you won't find the game nearly as hard.

 Not to beat up on Zelda I or nothing, Zelda I is lots of fun to you know, I just like Zelda II more.

I like Zelda II more.

It's because Zelda II has more music and REALLY good sword combat- probably my favorite aspect of Zelda games.

The combat is just so TENSE, yet so simple:

Defend high, defend low.

Attack high, attack low.

Now, it gets going really fast can you keep it up?

I love it, the Sheer difficulty kept me playing this game till my Brother beat it- he killed Dark Link, not me.

I vote for the legend of Zelda, but I've yet to finish II. At first glance I dismissed it as awful, but now that a review got me playing it again, I realize it's actually alot of fun. So who knows, my vote may change later.

Eirinn : It's a lot of fun, but it does hide some stuff unfairly. I think that you'll like it.

I think that the original LoZ is better than The Adventure of Link. It's not that the 2nd game is bad, but it feels somewhat unnatural. The 1st game feels like a Zelda game, a different experience, and then there's an RPG and new challenge. It's interesting to play, and a good challenge as well, but it might be too much to handle.

I would pick LoZ over Zelda II. I really liked playing LoZ but never really got into Zelda II, I have tried a few times but just never was able to get that far in it.

Zelda 1 by far, I found LZLOL to be a poor game.

  Zelda 2 does not come close to the first Zelda!
