Dragon Ball Kai is a semi-remake of DBZ. It's going to be the anime done in digital animation instead of hand-drawn animation. They are basically going to coat the anime in digital or animate over the original animation in digital tech. This will give DBZ a newer look, brighter colors, better quality. It's a Digital Remastering pretty much. The best type of remastering...well, if it's a cartoon that was originally made with hand animation lol.

DBK is it's own product. It'll have it's own openings/endings and it's own games. I'm not sure about movies though.
DBK will also cut out all of the filler because most of DBZ anime was filler...

They're going to crop the footage. It's not going to be like Funimation's remastered sets though. Funi cropped the screen the same on both the bottom and top no matter what the footage on hand was. DBK is being selectivly cropped meaning that sometimes only the bottom is being cropped and sometimes the bottom and top are being cropped. This will keep the main parts of the screen in focus.

DBK will air in Japan on April 5th in honor of both the creators birthday and DBZ's 20th anaversiry.

seriously unless theres NEW footage i could give a damn. actually, even then.
Dragonball has not stood the test of time well at all, IMO.
its like alot of things that should have been laid to rest along long time ago but they keep slapping a coat of paint on it and everyone thinks its great

It's like Naruto and Bleach. In the future, after Naruto/Shippuden and Bleach are over, people will keep making the games and remastering the series. Why? Because of the huge fanbase and it earns them loads of money.

actually i can rewatch bleach over and over but dbz i didnt like the second watch through so i'd say no real comparison IMO.
unfortunatly its this way with everything, they push it at least one step to far, you see it happen with tv shows, one season to many type of thing.
but yeah, i think from now on im going to ignore dbz existing anymore along with some other things. money is too important to these people

Well, i can understand that because:
A.) About 70% of the episodes were filler.
B.) The colors are bland

Well, i think DBK'll be better than DBZ because both of those are fixed because
A.) It's digitally remastered AKA they animated over the original hand-animation with digital animation
B.) No filler

Of course, you still have to be a huge fan of the series to be able to watch it again lol

I have watched the first episode of this already and I enjoyed it. The new animation makes it easier to watch again. Plus it's not in English (at least the version I've gotten) which is new for me.

I plan on watching it some more from here on out. I didn't watch a lot of the early DBZ stuff for much so it'll be a nice refresh to sit through and watch and the episodes one by one.

I am also curious to see what episodes get cut and what doesn't.

I watched the first episode too. It's great how they cut out the useless filling crap. They're making it easy to understand! The digital remastering does make it easy to watch it.

Yeah, I have the original series (in english) as well and I'd be interested to watch them side by side to see what is and isn't in there.

I'm also enjoying watching it in Japanese. As much as I like the voices in the English version there is something more authentic about hearing a whole bunch of Japanese yelling and fighting noises.
