Back in 1987 many Nintendoids (HAHAHAH SEE WHAT I DID THERE) remember reading the Nintendo Fun Club pamphlet and thinking "Gee, I sure hope they make a proper magazine out of this!" and in 1988 Nintendo of America decided to give in to fans demands (well, they weren't really demands) and introduced the gaming world to NINTENDO POWER. On the front cover was a weird depiction of Super Mario, but on the inside...wow. Tips and articles galore. It was a Nintendoids dream. 
Anyways, all I wanted to say was Farewell Nintendo Power. be sure to write your memories down below

dazzsheil : I was sad to hear that today. I was a member of the original "Free Nintendo Fan club" that was around before Nintendo Power came out (I still have my membership card!) When they moved to a paid membership for Nintendo I gave my money I had saved up from Cutting lawns as a small kid and had my mom sign me up. When issue 1 came out I was amazed. I couldn't wait to get each issue.

Kids now don't realize that Nintendo power was THE ONLY WAY to get a lot of these maps, tips, etc. Think about it. No internet, no nothing. If you wanted to beat Dragon Warrior you had to wander around or hope that a hint or map came out in nintendo power. It was a great thing and I still have 99% of my issues.

As much as I would love to see Nintendo Power not be discontinued, I believe this is best for Nintendo. Due to the gradually increasing easiness of being able to access the Internet, more and more have cancelled their subscriptions, since they can gather their information more freely, faster and get MORE information than the magazines could ever give. These numbers were expected to hit below profitable revenue eventually, so they decide to pull it now before they start making losses from Nintendo Power. I am a frequent buyer and was subscribed a few years back. 

Sad to see them discontinue such an amazing thing, but like I said, it was in their best interests and I support the decision.
