I would go with Charizard. Charizard bailed out Ash in a lot of battles that he would have normally lost (think against Magmar on top of the Volcano against Blaine). Pikachu was very strong, yes, but Charizard would have wiped Pikachu out had they ever faced against one another!

When I first saw this forum, I was either going to choose Charizard, Bulbasaur or squirtle (sorry, I just can't get myself to choose Pikachu.) but now that Pidgeot has been mentioned, I'd have to pick it. It may of only had 1 real battle, but it was a big help, and Ash was a jerk for leaving it.. Also think of all the times Ash could of used Charizard to fly or squirtle to swim but never did, versus the one time Pidgeot flew him around.

Personally, I would have to say Ash's Kingler is the best. Look at how well Ash used him when he was a Krabby, and won a lot of matches in the Indigo Plateau without Ash EVER training him. Kingler, is a beast no matter what you say.
