I have cried because of a videogame before that being ff10. I didn't cry when she died though simply due to the fact that I knew it was going to happen. Saying that though I was still damn close.

I knew she was going to die but I didn't expect it in the first disc either. I named her Toast because I knew that's what she'd be. :p

It was sad but I actually thought Ganon dying at the end of Wind Waker was sadder. I felt sorry for him in that one(don't ask me why). Then again I'm more partial to that series so maybe that's why.....

I found Cid death and Celes' attempted suicide much more touching than Aerith's death. Aerith's death was surprising, but not nearly as surprising as Cid dieing and then Celes throwing herself off a cliff. When Celes' theme starts playing, I have to hold back tears.

Seriously?

CRYING over a video game character? And not even a decent one at that, by the sound of it, she dies early too.

Serously? If you don't know about Final Fantasy, then don't comment on it.
You play through aerith only part of the game, but she is alive for 1/3 of the game

So? She dies, big whoop. I've seen sadder moments in Doom.

Uh... is it weird that I was crying at the end of X, and yet this scene didn't phase me at all? X's ending was just so damn depressing, even though the characters did win in the grander scheme of things, they really did lose all they had on the most personal of levels.... thank god for X2. I don't care how bad it was, it gave me peace of mind.

But like I said, it's just more VII hype. I already knew it would happen, and it wasn't pulled off in the saddest of ways either. I've experience more powerful emotions in a Kingdom Hearts game to tell the truth.

Maybe not anymore, but at the time is was a very shocking event to occur in a video game. In modern times main characters being killed off has become a common occurance, but back then it was not seen as often nor so early on in a game to an apparantly important character.

People say FF7 is just full of Clichés but that's not true, FF7 is what made them clichés. When it first came out it was very original.

It is very sad about what happened to Aerith, it even motivated me to keep on playing the game and kick Sephiroth's ass.

But I must admit, it's not the saddest moment I've seen, the saddest I've seen was when I was playing Mother 3, and I was fighting Claus for the last time and the voice of Luca's and Claus's mother was heard as the memory of their toddler-hood came back into their minds, and when Claus dies in the end.

I agree with ver-go-a-go-go, I was more sad at FFX's ending than at FFVII's aerith. I'm just so desensitized to aerith dieing that it doesn't even register with me anymore, I can't remember if I was sad or not. On FFVII, I got more sad about red XIII and his relationship with his father than I did about aerith, and I've never even used red as a character.

It's not really that sad, overall, I think that I was saddened by heaps of other moments. It's not really that sad compared to a lot of other sad moments, I think in any case. So, I'll say it wasn't sad.

Heck yeah it was sad! After that moment I knew I was destined to slaughter Sephiroth and avenge Aeris' death. Truly the saddest moment in Final Fantasy 7, R.I.P Aeris.....

Yeah sure its sad and all.. But I found Lavitz's death in The Legend of Dragoon, to be ten times as sad. I saw baling my eyes out. And I also found one of the endings of Mass Effect 2 to be pretty sad.

Honestly, there are waaaay more sad deaths than Aerith's death. Like the death of Count Bleck and Tippy in Super Paper Mario... Or even the death of all of the innocent espers in FF VI...
