So, just saw it this past Saturday and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I have not read the graphic novel but I pretty much know the plot and all the people that I actually know that have read it and then seen the movie were happy with it overall.

Anyone else seen it? Thoughts?

I enjoyed it and my girl friend liked it, we knew the story going in though. While im glad that snyder stayed so close to the story, I feel like people who hadnt heard of watchmen before may have been confused because of what had to be cut out of the movie made some parts of it not make very much sense (the whole beginning montage for example). Its not really any ones fault, this is probably the best an adaption of watchmen could ever be its just hard to fit all of the characters and story from the comic into a 2.5 hour movie.

Everyone who hadn't read the graphic novel that I went with f***ing HATED it, because as much as I tried to tell them.. the Watchmen is NOT a comic book movie, it's more the total opposite. I loved it though.. can't wait for the director's cut with the pirate comic mixed into it, and all the missing shots.

I still haven't read the graphic novel and I wasn't confused by the opening montage at all. The only thing that really had me confused at all was Ozymandias' lynx-tiger thing, but my friend explained it to me.

But yeah, overall I think that Synder did a really good adaptation of it from all accounts. Also, I like that there were no really big name actors in the film and that instead he went with people he felt actually fit the roles.

Snyder paid GREAT fan service, and there's going to be even more on the director's cut.. which is juicy. One of my friend wasn't just confused by the lynx.. he complained about it, but I didn't think it was THAT big of a deal that the scene where it was explained was jumped. There was the bigger issue of there being a PYRAMID AT ONE OF THE POLES, THAT HOUSED A TELEPORTATION DEVICE... but eh.

Teleportation device? Is that what that was?

I was more amused that no one questioned the design of the building while it was being built... but then again, I guess it is just taken for granted that rich people do weird s***.

Well... that's what Jon was working on, at least in the graphic novel. I'll tell everyone right now the spoiler about the ending of the novel versus the movie.

Jon was worked on a teleportation device that would send Veidt's "space alien" into New York. I'll be damned if I can remember that device being how the bombs got into the different cities.. I dunno if that was what was elaborated on. I assumed that's what Jon sent to Veidt.

The music I really liked the part were the comedian was in the vietnam war along with dr.manhattan(Dr.Manjunk) and they were killing the soliders manhattan blew them up was really cool,Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen was one of my fav songs were Nite Owl ll and Silk Spectre ll were making love in the owl ship they left very little to imagination when they did that scene in the movie and yes I have the comic book paper back novel.

I know most people have heard of the artists like Leonard Cohen and Rufus Wainwright they both great musicians the first version I like of the song Hallelujah were she by accident presses the flamethrower button.

He sent the reactor for the "power generators". They didn't use the alien route because they didn't think it would work well in the movie. Hence why the whole time they were talking about providing free energy to the world. Personally, I think it worked out okay.

I still have "The Sound of Silence" stuck in my head.

One of the best movies that I have ever seen there were a few things that upset me about it because they changed it from what happened in the comics

I was impressed with the film. Until I first began seeing the previews I had completely forgotten about the Story of Watchmen. The film maker did an excellent job portraying the correct story, while still allowing some of the newer viewers to understand whats going on. I agree that this movie was not the typical comic book movie, but it at least tried to tell a lot of the backstories of the characters to let the newer viewers develop there own ideas abou the characters. Overall, good film and the director's cut should be even better.

I didn't really like it... a lot of it didn't make a ton of sense to me. Even with the back story. I'm sure the book is better (they always are) but from what I saw it felt like a lot of story was missing. It was filmed very well, I liked the way it looked but the story itself seemed strange....

Read the graphic novel, or comic book as the writer calls it. Evidently, they REALLY screwed up the ending. I'm not going to see the movie because it probably will ruin the comic for me, and I thought the book was epic

I don't think the ending was messed up. While its totally different, they both served the same purpose. A great movie, can't wait for special bluray edition to come out.
